Never…

Post by Blazenko »

Never buy a Korg keyboard as soon as it hits the market.

Wait at least 6 months for that

a) the first software errors have been corrected

b) the street selling price levels off

c) the hardware defects of the first series are recognized and remedied by revisions

After that, one can hope that in addition to bug fixes with software updates, new functions will also come - usually in about a year...

Sorry for my bad english.

With inflation in many countries running at 10%, supply problems and many currencies devaluing against the dollar I don't think you are going to see many discounts soon. Maybe a couple of hundred bucks towards Christmas but that would be it.

Maybe in 4-5 years like what's happened with the Genos recently you'll get a decent discount.
New the Genos is £3400 from several sellers here in the UK. However most still have it at £4000 and several eBayers are still trying to get near THAT new price for a second hand. Which is literally crazy!

People should just do what they want.

I was in the market for a new arranger. The 88 key PA5X interested me. So I bought one and I'm pretty happy. Sure upgrading from PA4X is maybe a different story but not everyone follows that route.
The other option for me personally would have been getting a Genos again and getting an additional weighted action. Wouldn't have been much cheaper at all.

In Australia, you can buy any of the Pa5x models at discount of about 20% off recommended retail price. But they are all pre-orders, no stock available.

The RRP's in the UK and Europe seem to be about 20% lower than in Australia and US.

I'm actually surprised about that considering the pound especially is piss poor at the moment.

The Korg Nautilus 61 started at £2000, then £1550.

Years ago the Pa700 was released at £1100, then dropped to £900.

Pa4X was nearly £3000 then dropped to £2300

So I for one am waiting for the price to drop to realistic levels and for the first batch of bugs to be eradicated.

Here Pa700 is currently priced higher than when it was released due to the situation around the world..

The Pa5x is worth it for the sound fidelity alone.

Well, everyone has their justification for paying such a high price for the keyboard...

Nobody has to justify anything... it might be more useful for those who are Procrastinating to allow those who have purchased PA5X to take a more constructive point of view while digging into resolving any problems while networking through these threads and in other places as they start contributing as part of the process for remedies...

Remember purchasing a product like PA5X which we know will require a little more work is a (((Choice))) so I'm not sure we need our noses rubbing it...

You may in the future come to thank the early bird owners of PA5X once things stabilise and become more sorted should you ever decide to move PA5X. :)

Well, let me put it straight: in the world of electronics (whether tools, smartphones or keyboards) it is worth waiting a little before buying or installing.

For instance iPhone: after iOS 15 was released I have waited to the next release to be sure most bugs were fixed. Bugs like draining batteries, GPS loss, bad wifi etc.

Internet at home: I've waited a long time before I switched from DSL to Cable (Docsis) because I wanted stable and fast internet which wasn't at the beginning.

I bought my Pa800 several months after its release because I'd wanted to play instead of filtering out bugs and waiting for fixes.

For me, the same for the Pa5X. If I'll buy one it shall be maybe next year, maybe even later. not now at this moment. The same happens like in smartphone world: everybody eager to get one, cannot wait 'til the box arrives at their homes. Than, a week later, many of those 'explorers' are complaining about a weak OS, a lot looking the same like its predecessor Pa4X and more of those complaints.

I don't blame Korg nor do I blame those explorers. Korg did a great job to develop a new arranger. Please do not forget Korg already had a lag in this market, remember Yamaha's Genos which ought to be a big success.

I haven't mentioned prices because the market is unstable. Many differences between USA, EU, Asia and Australia. Nobody knows if prcies of the Pa5X shall drop or rise after a few months.

The sound quality is far better than the PA4X!
I really hope they will fix all the bugs.
I understand its a new keyboard but like it is now there’s not much we can use more than some remixed styles and sounds .
is too much money for me🤣 for only some styles some sounds!
I hope it will be uppdated soon

in my opinion, korg has done a great job. no one is talking about new technology, it is simply a new arranger keybord. and the successor to the Pa4x.

korg has incorporated elements from their other products and built an all-round device that combines many elements. if you are looking for a synthesizer, you should buy a separate device.
I think the 88key option is great. I've been waiting for this for a long time.

korg has "my" sound, the yamaha sounds never appealed to my ears, even though the genos has great software and many options.

korg has updated every arranger with many os updates, and i think more than many other manufacturers. i don't doubt for a moment that they will do the same here.
i'm not afraid of change either, i'll adapt myself and my shows and take advantage of new opportunities. and i'll only sell the pa4x when i have everything under control to go on stage with the pa5x.

so i will buy a Pa5x-88 when it becomes available.
