Obviously he wants to promote the sales of the PA5x but you can clearly hear differences in this video.
Of course it is all very subjective and depends so much on EQ and FX. It's a bit like comparing 2 cheddar cheeses.
I'd like to know what the on-board EQ settings were in both keyboards.
I am assuming he was fair and played both through the same sound system and setup.

So many are complementing on the "improved" sounds but is it the samples or the improved FX or both?

Would be nice to see a similar styles comparison video - after all, it is an arranger keyboard....

:D

Dear Pete, I fully agree. :)

I "heard" this video two 2 days ago very intensely and I have asked myself the same question. Of course the sound is on a very high level - I do not have any Kronos where I can compare with these high level sounds. But the first thing, that came into my mind: these new sounds have definitely more effects. There is more FX (EQ/Ambience/Reverb etc) used with a very long reverb flag. In a solo situation really nice but in a full arranged setup (drums, bass, pads etc) too much. This is my impression.

To get back to the original question, it is very hard nearly impossible to perceive and evaluate the real improvement.

One last comment from my side. I have the subjective impression, making my future Pa5x ready for live gigs (comming from the 4x) will take weeks and massive effort.

Regards from Cologne

Ralf :)

Pete,

I think tomorrow is your Pa5X day, so looking forward to your review. In my amateur option the sounds are greatly improved, but I am no pro.

If it comes down to it - I could set up my 4x and 5x together, turn off the Master and Finishing Effects, and send the outputs to an external recorder for comparison.

But lets see how you make out with your product demo first.

PS - Take a vehicle with a large trunk just in case :D

From the perspective of individual sound improvements compared to PA4X, then i do not think you will be disappointed and I include as a side Note: the overall Hi-Fidelity of the whole keyboard is most definitely better in comparison to PA4X which is helped by the New Finalizer, this i was pleased to see and more importantly hear.

Well that has been destroyed - was informed today that the PA5x-76 they received was sold almost immediately - so, gotta wait another 3-4 weeks!!!

You’re kidding, how disappointing, you would have thought they’d keep a PA5x in store to show potential buyers. So now you have to wait another few weeks and not be sure whether as to order one, or not.
I was so looking forward to what you thought.

I think my store is going to keep a demo model on the shop floor, unfortunately I can’t go see it , 3 hr drive to and from is just too difficult for hubby nowadays.

I think they're receiving pre-orders regardless. For them even a floor model would be a wasted opportunity to make money at this point. When this whole thing settles a bit, then we'll probably start seeing 61 keys in some showrooms.

Hi Sam,
My regular store said they have a 61 note that they’re planning on keeping for display, but I suppose if someone walks in with 6 1/2 K cash, who’s going to say NO. Haha

You could always ring A&C Hamilton in the UK and speak to Justin to ask him if any Eq or filters were applied to either keyboard.

Inhave played keyboards in the store and they were as per just unboxed.
