microKorg S - clicks from patches which use 'delay' effect

Post by the_surf_doc »

Hi,

I've just purchased a microKorg S, which I am really enjoying.

However, whenever I play a patch that uses the Delay effect, every now and then I get a series of three of four echoing clicks. It happens for maybe 10-15% of the notes/chords I play.

I'm thinking of sending the unit back for investigation. However, I thought I would check with you smart guys here first to see if this is something you have heard of before?

Any responses welcome, even if it is just suggestions of things to try to cure it.

Cheers

Hi,

No solution here, only some questions to clarify/troubleshoot your issue.

Does it occur on any particular factory default patch? Or on all patches using delay? (So that possibly others can try it themself.)

How does a patch that is suffering from it, sound when the delay effect is switched off? Do you hear then a single click?
I'm thinking out loud of a possible reason: as the mK has only 4 voices, and when the AMP envelope has long release times, you may soon run out of voices when playing chords. That means that previous sounding notes will be cut. If that happens a bit too abrupt, it may cause some clicks.

Hi OpAmp,

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I do appreciate it.

It occurs on all patches using delay, not just the factory patches. And there's no click or similar with the delay switched off.

I reported it to Korg with example sound files and they were stumped also.

They've sent me a replacement unit which arrives tomorrow, so the problem is solved, so to speak.

Cheers
