Pa5X Critical Stereo PCM saving issue still not been addressed

- If you import stereo samples , compress them and save sampling data as ALL.KST and when load later ALL.KST folder ,
the 30% of samples are corrupted with noise & clicks and raw format is translated conflicted !
The majority of users compress large samples so Pa5X sampler is useless for stereo sampling development !

- While all sampling data that are initially loaded and compressed , are working properly even if you restart your Pa5X , all are
there working perfectly until you save PCM in KST file.
- If you delete samples or make a factory restore or load another SET.KST , then it's impossible to restore these PCM samples
when try to load ALL.KST or SOUND file , over 40% of samples are corrupted and it's strictly PCM saving management failure.
This doesn't affect loaded Pa4X compressed samples or imported MS that are in older L-R pair format.

Pa developers or anyone can recreate this critical PCM issue with resources I provide.
1. import in Pa5X this stereo looped sample https://drive.google.com/file/d/1F92BMb ... MeWql/view

2. save sample and select compression or compress all samples.
Sample always work fine again even if you restart your Pa5X
3. Save ALL.KST in any created KST folder.
4. Make a Pa5X factory restore or delete samples and multisamples and load back saved ALL.KST.

The same you will hear if you will export that sample.

- Advanced Style editor is still missing basic functions like velocity , quantize and delete/erase measurements.

- Style Editor programming code has still a bug at END1 & INTRO1 and any Style either converted nor internal is edited
it changes melodic instruments at END1 to non transpose mode , for an unknown reason chord sequencer is involved and style ends
to wrong relative tone with chord sequence even if corrected manually to proper settings !
How to recreate issue with Pa5X factory Style.
- Copy factory Pop Bank Style "16 Beat Groove" at user bank and edit it via menu.
- Copy "ALL' from VAR 1 to END 1 & save Style
- Now Play VAR1 & END1 with the same chord and see how chord sequencer is involved in END1 no matter of what you have edited there ...

manual at page 810 says :
Chord progressions for Intro 1 and Ending 1
Intro 1 and Ending 1 usually contain a chord progression. You can enter it via Text Meta Events or via Note Velocity.

This is totally bullshit of non relative to music programmers , if you want do it for your factory Styles and let Pro Musicians to decide if
they want chord sequencer in INTRO 1/ENDING 1 of a initialized new style or provide the option to get rid of this amateur trash ...
If this is indeed a stupid addon on purpose , it enforces converted styles to have an random chord sequencer in END1/INTRO1 where
never programmed or existed ...
Also in 767 page says "Exceptions are the Intro 1 and Ending 1, where we suggest to record a Major and minor Chord Variations".

Both above make Pa5X creation of Styles to be incomplete and wrong for advanced user that edit or use custom Styles.

Temporary Solution
Pa5X performers with custom styles , avoid using END1 & INTRO1 of your custom Styles or copy them to healthy END2/3 or INTRO2
until next OS that this will be addressed.

Time Sliced sampler editor is completely malfunctioning !

- When importing , slicing and saving a loop sample , the created Multisample is wrongly mapped and every sliced sample is shifted one octave lower in pitch.
- The most important is that no MID file is created for importing events sequense of slices in a Style ...

Users that were creating loops / groove files in PaSeries can not create new time sliced percussion until this will be addressed in any next OS update.

Imported custom time sliced MS used in Styles/PADs from Pa4X work fine though !

I absolutely agree with what was written by AntonySharmman. I would only add that the mode Scale-Min3 of the vocal processor does not work correctly

KBD Set interface Sound Pitch Bug

When in Mixer Bend Tuning page , if one Upper Sound is altered f.e. one octave down -12 , SOUND OSC keyboard Range orientation is ignored.
This should work as ± Upper Octave of panel interface as in Pa4X and all PaSeries.

Favorite 11 position is not saved correctly , each time you restart OS , data of 11 position are always lost ...

Hi Antony tried what you suggested in regards to 16 Beat Groove, it does exactly what you said if you copy to “style edit “. I tried deleting the text chords and all sorts of different things.
Could it somehow be imbedded in the sys ex or something?

On the other hand I copied “ALL “ the style parts into “ New Style” , no chord progression in Intro /Ending 1, BUT, you also don’t have the Effects for that style which is then quite a job putting FX settings back in individually. Is there a function that copies the FX settings back in , in one go?

Agree there should be some way of disabling chord sequencer in Intro/Ending1.

Recent owner of a Korg Pa5X, previous owner of Korg PA3X. Big issue with Songbook. I play keyboard and vocal at the same time and utilize my Ipad via Unrealbook app to trigger Songbook. In Korg Pa5X, Songbook doesn't change instruments on accompaniament tracks when changing variation, that means at this point Songbook isn't usable, in other words, I can't do my job with Pa5x at this moment (Os 1.1.0). If you want to try replicate this bug, Enter Songbook, choose Oryantal style, play Variation 1, and then go manually on the screen and reselect the Style from it's path. You'll see what I mean. Very dissapointed, thinking about returnig back the unit to the seller.

Can confirm it is happening in a number of styles.

Quarter tone doesn't work if you transpose.

2 different measures in the style are not supported (in pa4x also any other previous existing series worked)

For example, if we have a 4/4 rhythm and fill 1 or the other variation is 2/4, it does not work (the keyboard plays 2 empty measures).
If we have a 9/8 variation and the other 7/8 or 5/8, the same thing happens again, the keyboard plays only the 9/8 rhythm and the rest plays empty.
(I tried to create a new rhythm with different measures, or to import a variation from another rhythm with different measures and again the same problem)

I think it's urgent for us that KORG must release a "bug" Pa5X OS version before the release of an OS with new features! It a MUST!!!

Totally agree, more important to get current OS working correctly.

Drum Mode in Style Record doesn't work. If you enter Style Record - New Style - Menu- Track Controls and select Type Drum for any other track than Drum or Percussion, it won't work. Drum tracks should have CHORD and Note Transposition Table greyed out, they are greyed out exclusively on Drum and Percussion tracks, indifferent by the settings made in Track Controls. If you import an older style with drums on tracks Acc1 - Acc2, then it works, but you cannot do it with a new style. Try it ! I think we should to an extensive list of bugs and make a collective mail sent to Korg by all Korg Pa5X unhappy users. This is for sure the last time I buy a Korg with such a miserable operating system. Shame on Korg who delivered such a shamefull product to it's loyal customers and shame on us, the ones that approve to get fooled in such a way.

Chords not sent on MIDI Out

In Settings > MIDI > MIDI Out Channels, I set up a channel for chords. Then I play a chord on the keyboard, it is properly recognized and displayed on screen, but nothing is sent on the channel I did set up for chords.
