new board(s)

oh dear.
I was looking under my keyboard at the mass of cables around it and my computer. I must have pulled out the usb connection from the host at the back of the keyboard. I THINK the usb end touched the keyboard stand and a spark came out. The computer failed to recognise the keyboard. The qualified keyboard engineer fortunately just lives around the corner.
New board required .
When it was all put back together we tried to place the speaker bar (I don't think we turned the keyboard off) now no sound from the speaker but it does come from the headphone socket. He had to go as it was late and I am waiting for him to come back and say I need another board. oh dear and no doubt very quite dear.
Lesson being do not fiddle with anything when machines are turned on.

Regards

Keith

Damn! That's one freak accident. I've probably done that many times, but so far so good. Good advice nonetheless!

How much does the board cost? Hope you get it all working soon.

Hi Sam

Well, I was told that the little board which contains the host and and the connection outlet to the computer would be £120.00 and he ordered it .when it was delivered to him it was the wrong board and the correct board is £500.00
I do not know if this includes the other board it connects to. All I can do is wait and see as I cannot use the keyboard as it is so it will be what it will be.

Best wishes

Keith

Sorry to hear that. Not cheap, but at least there's a potential fix.

all repaired and working

The delay was due to me going on holiday for two weeks.

The engineer lives round the corner from me and first thought he would have to change the small board(£500) In the end he replaced the host connector and all is ok. total cost £180.

Best wishes
