Modwave editor not seeing device: SOLVED

I have a new Modwave. It was difficult to get my Windows 10 PC to communicate with it; I installed the Korg driver (which should not be required) and found it working on USB MIDI (0). My Cubase DAW sees it, as does the MIDI-OX utility. But not the editor/librarian software supplied by Korg, which shows only a blank window with "Waiting for device...".

What might I have missed?

Turned out that my new 2023 Modwave had only the 1.0.3 firmware. Once updated, all became clear.
