Different HW inside.

Kronos and Kronos X used an Intel mainboard with an Atom D510/D525 CPU

The Kronos 2 used an ASRock mainboard with a D2550 CPU

LCD screen is also at a greater angle facing you on the K2. The K1 has the LCD screen laying flatter making it harder to view (neck strain). And when you say panels, assuming you are referring to the side panels, if so, the back panel has holes for better ventilation. And I hear less complaints about fan noise on the K2.

There are also some differences between the Kronos and Kronos 2 stock Programs and Combis. The Kronos can be "upgraded" to the Kronos 2, using the New Kronos Sound Pack, but the Program and Combi ordering is not the same.

the Kronos 2 and X have more memory as well. makes a BIG difference when youre recording audio and sampling etc

but you upgrade kronos 1 and X to the exact same specs...
