A few weeks later I started getting the errors again, so I opened it up again, and this time I found a little metal screw rattling around. It was the screw that is supposed to hold that little circuit board in place.
Now Kronos is doing it again. I opened it up and did a visual inspection, but couldn't find anything. However I noticed that there is a screw missing from the corner of the motherboard, circled in the photo. I searched and searched... Turned the unit upside down, and up on either end and shook it... But nothing rattled or fell out. I'm afraid that little screw is still wedged in there someplace. I don't look forward to taking the whole thing apart looking for it.
So I put it back together and tried it out for a few hours, and didn't get any errors. But now my expression pedal isn't working! I unplugged it from the Kronos' "Pedal" jack and connected it to my Studiologic controller, and it works there, so the pedal itself is OK. I really don't want to have to modify all my combis to comprehend that the expression pedal is now connected to the midi controller. I would have to do the Karma trick to echo the Studiologic channel's control signals to the Global channel, and that is kind of a PITA.
Not sure what I'm looking for with this post. Does anyone have any clever ideas about how to find an errant screw hiding inside a Kronos? Also, any ideas why my Expression pedal might suddenly stop working? I supposed the two issues could be related... The screw might have shorted some circuitry related to the pedal, or my fiddling around trying to shake the screw loose inadvertently shook something else loose.
Gigs coming up this weekend and next, so I've got to do something!
