It starts................
What can FANTOM users look forward to soon?
The FANTOM Development Team has been working hard to unveil a massive breakthrough: bringing Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) to FANTOM. We are excited to share this, plus other new expansions and features, with all FANTOM users very soon.
The evolution of this creative hub continues. Look out for an exciting FANTOM announcement this November.

I'm not sure what ACB will bring to the Fantom apart from adding expensive plug-ins to replace the ABM one's I've already got.
I'm happy with how ABM sounds and I don't particularly want to sacrifice polyphony (probably limited to 8 voices) just for realism... it'll cripple the Fantom as a workstation.

Why do I feel like half the news will be about Roland Cloud which I think is a scam?

Roland Cloud has been around for a while now - definitely not a scam

You essentially don't own anything with Roland Cloud, you just pay to lease sounds basically. To me that is a scam.
Many people love it, but many others don't. I prefer the Korg Legacy Collection model, you pay a few and it's yours.

Hi shefu,
Apologies as I know this is a Korg forum but I have to correct you a little here. You DO own Roland sound purchases just the same a for the Korg libraries shop, however there are "membership options" more aimed for the software products where one can save money depending on how much software you wish to buy (licences).
I've purchased several sound libraries for my Fanton and I own them and can re download them any time under their lifetime licence (just same as Korg libraries).
Cheers
Pete

Besides what karmathanever said... I think the "lease" aspect of it is not very different from buying music vs. using Spotify. To some extent, this divide regarding feelings about "ownership" vs. "subscription" may be generational.

My comment was directed at the monthly memberships and not the lifetime keys.

Back on topic.....I think the Roland remarks, if they truly came from Roland, may be an effort to blunt the mew Yamaha Montage introduction. Personally I am intrigued by what all has been shown on media about this new Yamaha addition. It is also shocking to see that the line is already in stock. What a novel concept!

Very good read, that Fantom G video made me miss mine! Sold it back in 2012, I really loved that keyboard!
Hopefully the new one they got in the works will deliver the goods!

Indeed!! But some are suggesting it may be an update to the existing Fantom

Roland have just updated the current one (minor update) and. like Korg, have been very quiet for a while.

Would I be right in thinking, bringing back ACB would be Roland's answer to Yamaha's reintroduction of AN-X, which has not been a secret for some time, pre Montage M series...
As good as the Zen-Core ecosystem is, there has been much talk about ACB vs Zen-Core and i see this move as a positive one, depending on how they implement ACB alongside Zen-Core in Fantom...
Zen-Core has been explained to be less hungry for processing power compared to ACB, so I wonder how they will implement this?
Time will tell I guess and i am sure this will be of great interest to Fantom owners

A bit of a shame for those of us who have already bought the n/Zyme for £145, and now have to pay £201 for the EX upgrade that includes the n/Zyme!
It doesn't seem quite right somehow.
