I was recording a song today and ran into a problem. I had everything in the KST set the way I wanted for various sounds and changes during the song. Part of that process was setting the volume sliders for each sound so that it would be balanced when it came in. In this case, I had set Jazz Guitar to play on Upper 2 and I had the Upper 2 slider set to maximum.
When I was playing through the song and switched to Upper 2, the volume was way below where I had set it even though the slider was still set to max volume. If I dropped the slider down and pushed it back up to max it was right where I wanted it but it would not remember that volume setting once I started playing and switching between sounds. I tried setting the lock on the bottom right of the screen to lock everything in place but the same dropped volume continued to happen.
My eventual solution was to quickly bring that slider part way down and then shove it back up to maximum with my left hand during the split second I was changing the sound with my right hand. This does not seem like a good solution during live playing or recording.
Any ideas for how to get the Pa5x to remember the volume slider setting while switching between sounds? Thanks for any help.

BTW check in the settings if the sliders were set to "catch" or "jump"?.
Catch works only after moving the slider, but Jump takes the current slider value.

Thanks for the idea JaqiChan (love that name).
I have mine set to 'Jump' because I did not like the way 'Catch' made me move the slider to catch the current position before adjusting rather than just being able to move the slider to my goal.
My understanding is that using the 'Jump' setting should not cause the volume change I am getting when I switch to other Upper sounds and then come back to Upper 2. The slider is set to max volume for that sound on Upper 2, then the Pa5x changes the volume back to its normal starting volume for that sound which is far too quiet for that sound so I have to bring the slider down and then push it back up to max. That does sound a bit as though the sliders are set to 'Catch' but they are set to 'Jump'.
In any event, I am hoping for a solution that will keep the volume where I set it for one of the Upper sounds as I switch back and forth between the other Uppers.

(Sorry this reply took so long. I thought I had submitted it a couple of days ago and just discovered that it had not posted.)
No, I am saving songs as MP3 files. Sorry if I was confusing, but before recording I am setting up my keyboard with a Style, 4 Upper Sounds, and volume settings for everything. The problem is that when I switch between any of the Upper four sounds, the volume changes from where I had set it with the sliders.
Today, I decided that maybe the solution was to save the KST with all the volumes set and play from that saved KST. Nope, the volume problem still exists.
For example, today I have Upper 2 set to Jazz Sax and Upper 3 set to Jazz Guitar. In order to have the volumes balanced when I switch between them, I need to bring the Jazz Sax volume down by about 50% and boost the Jazz Guitar to 100% which is how I saved the KST. Still, when playing or recording with that KST in which I set the volume sliders where I wanted them, the Guitar always comes on too soft and the Sax too loud. If I use the slider to bring the Sax down, when I switch to the Guitar it has changed to being so soft you cannot hear it even though I did not touch that slider. If I push the Guitar slider up to max which is perfect, then when I switch back to the Sax it has changed so that it blows my ears out even though I have not moved the slider for that Upper 2 Sound.
I must be doing something very wrong. I am hoping someone out there has a solution since at this point I can't play or record without having to constantly reset the volume sliders every time I switch between Upper Sounds.
Thanks for any help.

There is no problem if you do it properly !Obijohn wrote:The problem is that when I switch between any of the Upper four sounds, the volume changes from where I had set it with the sliders.
- Set sliders to Jump , sliders are for realtime control not for permanent setup.
- Save Style in User Bank since factory resources can't be edited.
- Edit KBD set and use the proper volume per 2 & 3 upper Sound layers via screen sliders (and not realtime sliders) in mixer menu.
- Save Style and done.
This style can be transferred in any media storage and will work as it should.
Also bear in mind that if upper link square is checked in screen menu , then when you alter one upper Sound volume , all Sound volumes
will also be altered proportionally, so un-check this box for individual Sound volume edits.
Hope this helps

Thank you Anthony. Problems solved.
As you guessed, I had somehow checked the' Upper volumes linked box' which explains a lot.
I was unaware that changing volumes in the Mixer would be saved differently than using the realtime sliders so that was a huge bit of learning for me.
I had searched through the manual a number of times trying to figure this out. Having experienced users like you on this forum is a lifesaver for newbies like me.
