Korg tr 61 sequencer

Hi. I am trying to get a sequence loaded that I can change by hitting the appropriate root note of an arpeggio. I have read the manual and watched numerous YouTube tutorials but just keep going up blind alleys. Can anyone suggest a simple instruction for using the sequencer to use live and proress through a song by keying root notes only ?
