Looks like the Korg Krome Ex 61 is back in stock at Thomann!

When I looked at buying one a few months ago, my local distributor advised (via the retailer) that the Krome was in fact not discontinued, as widely hypothesised. Instead, production was impacted by a parts shortage. I managed to get a brand new unit a month or so ago; looks like production might be restarting?

Well, this certainly suits me. At least service on my Krome is likely to stay live for a while.

On the other hand, it lends additional force to the idea that the Nautilus is supposed to be the new flagship, which is depressing.

It certainly is depressing, especially when you consider that the Krome surpasses the Nautilus in a couple of areas, namely it’s better sequencer (with the exception of HDR and in track sampling), and a more comprehensive front panel on the Krome (sequencer controls, numeric keypad, bank buttons). The Krome and Nautilus even share the same LCD.

I do see Krome are back in stock (61 and 73 versions) online in some U.S. stores.

I do wonder if Korg decided to scale back Krome production so it wouldn't compete with the Nautilus. I imagine the production costs would be about the same, but Nautilus would provide a higher profit margin. Pure speculation on my part!
