Korg Driver Setup Utility keeps popping up.

Post by timg11 »

The "Korg Driver Setup Utility 1.15.38.02 has started popping up over and over. It has "KORG KRONOS" listed as a connected device. It has a button to "Install". I click it , accept UAC elevation, and immediately, get a dialog with "The Device Driver has been installed properly".
Then the Driver Setup Utility Install dialog appears again in 10 seconds or so.

The Kronos driver is working normally the whole time, and has been working fine for years. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

I would uninstall the driver, then install one of the later ones - 1.15.41 or 1.15.43.

That seems to have worked - so far so good.

I had this problem also. I think it had to do with USB suspend. in other words, the PC puts the USB port to sleep, and when it wakes up, it detects the Kronos, so it opens the Korg MIDI Driver Config app.

You need to open Device Manager in Windows, figure out which USB port or hub your Kronos is on, select Properties, click the Power Management tab, and uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." If that tab isn't there, then you have to go to the parent USB root hub and do it there. I did it to all my USB ports and hubs to be safe, but lately I'm using the MIDI port on my audio interface.

HOnestly, though, if you have a USB interface with a MIDI port (MIDI cables), i'd use that b/c it's more reliable.
