KRONOS Editor 3.1 on Windows 11 does not start

Hi together, when I try to start KRONOS Editor 3.1 on my Windows 11 Pro 23H2 (Build 22631.3880) machine, it does not start. The initial screen is shown, but then the Editor crashes. I have reinstalled the Editor two times, plugged the KRONOS in an out, both no effect. Does anyone have the same problem?

Hi ssab and welcome to the forums.
See the compatibility chart below.

Hi KK, thank you very much, this is the answer (even if I´m not happy with it

) So I have to wait, until KORG fix it, I guess?

Hello ssab,
Yes, unfortunately their "under examination" thing is unclear and might just be a polite way to say it won't work. Hopefully, you can find maybe another computer still running on Windows 10 to use the Kronos Editor. If your goal is mainly to reorganize your programs and combis, note that there are also other freeware that can help you. The best ones are PCG Tools and Tidy Kronos and they are free.

Any Update?

Any update on this? My W10 computer bit the dust, so I had to get a W11 machine. Kronos Editor 3.1 will not work. As OP indicated, it will load the Rendering screen and then crash. Tried all the maddening fixes and reboots and reloads and reinstalls, all to no avail.
I can't use it in Cubase as a VST, either.
The compatibility chart indicated above shows 23H2 as latest build for W11, but my machine is alread 24H2.
Can Korg have the courtesy to let us know where they might stand with their efforts? Folks with the Kronos were very good to Korg by purchasing a flagship synth, and it seems a shame that we are kept in the dark.

It is really ashaming.

In fairness, it's probably Microsoft keeping Korg in the dark about their updates. Korg are then forced to develop fixes, which can take a while for them to be sure they are stable enough for release. Korg also rely on Sound Quest for the Editor software, so it's not just one party involved.

So, now the new KRONOS 3 is on the way

I hope, there will be a new release of the KRONOS Editor?!? But the official download page from Korg is still empty...

There are some YouTube videos on how to resolve this issue. One of them is to edit the registry but I don't recommend that unless you're computer savvy. Another one involves removing any other USB MIDI drivers with the Korg Uninstall Utility. I did this and it helped. I'm not going to try to type out the procedure here because it's a bit involved, but one thing to keep in mind is to not have any other USB MIDI devices physically plugged in when you start this process, including the Kronos. Try using AI to post your question. You'd be surprised how detailed the information can be to your query.

And now? Will KORG come with an update?
Or will only the NEW Kronos work with the editor?
Please respond KORG!

Ehhhh, but I assume that for the many KRONOS owners there will be a version that DOES run under Win. 11......
Korg does not leave its users with a non-working editor?
I would like to see a reaction from Korg appear here......
Greetings,
Robbie
