Hello, I have the factory update of the pa1000 but I want to update to the newer version--my question; Is it if I should update all the updates step by step until the most recent one? Or should I just update the one I've had for three years and jump to the most recent one? thank you for your help ---best regards ---

By loading the recent one/new/last Operating System, automatically also all the features added by the previous updates are loaded.

I was happy with the first OS 1.2 0, but tell me, do you think it is better to upgrade to version 1.5.1? What is your experience or your opinion about it? I know there is an increase in memory, but that is not so important to me for now -- but hey, I await your suggestion -- on the other hand, as I read, that the edits I made in midis files as songs from midis sequences can be lose when installing this new O S 1.5.1 --and I don't like that, because I have many editions of midis songs with instruments that the pa 1000 comes with as a preset and I modified them to my liking and... It is not sensible to recommend the use of a particular OS version if someone does not need the improvements of versions for their new use.

Due to your concerns about OSv1.5 and your satisfaction with OSv1.2, I do not think a change makes sense and you really should decide for yourself why you want to use a new version.

Versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.31, 1.4 and 1.5 of the Pa1000 operating system are known. Apart from the elimination of obvious errors, there were no corrections that could really be described as an "update".

A real update was only available for the Pa4x - I would have liked an update for the Pa1000 to this extent. Korg Support has long since stopped taking customer requests in the mid-range Pa range into account.

Since the first delivery, Korg has not even corrected obvious system errors (http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 514#824514).
My criticism therefore remains that the Pa1000 with its reduced style features is no longer usable as a professional arranger keyboard (http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 431#747431).
Improvements and bug fixes for the general performance of the different OS versions therefore also do not deserve to be called "upgrades".

Due to some changes in the hardware components from SN# 40000 there are two different versions of Pa1000 with different OS, VideoOut and Clock battery:
Type A up to SN# 39999 RCA (Composite) CR2032
Type B from SN# 40000 HDMI CR1632
When upgrading OS or executing a full factory reset Pa1000 will ask for the correct version of OS install package.

OS 1.4.0 Improvements: Compatibility with some localizations. Only available in some countries.

OS 1.5.0 General performance improvements.
Bug fixes in Jukebox: Big sized MIDI files could interrupt the playback of a Jukebox list.

You obviously confuse a lot, because an additional MIDI preset does not change or improve anything at working with SMFs or user styles.

It is also not due to the quantification of the style record tool when user styles sound terrible. It generally is bad timing of a user sequence itself to the terrible timing, because applying quantization only slight deviations in the timing are improved.

However, it is wrong to assume that generally poorly recorded sequences can be corrected on the quality of the high quality sequences by quantization.

The styles of some music styles intentionally require a targeted deviation from the theoretical grid (swing, groove). These deviations from the theoretically correct rhythm are intended as a means of style and expression - and no quantization is intentionally used for such styles.
