Hi
Recently bought a second hand wave state mk1 mint condition number 2534. It’s great apart from I have problems shutting it down.
I am aware it has a soft switch so know how to do it properly. Out of using it 10 times I have managed to shut it down successfully 2 times.
It always powers up first time.
I was thinking of getting someone to fit a new power switch but I’m not sure it will fix the issue?.
I’m not sure how to proceed- I don’t think it’s ok just to unplug it at the mains?
I’m new to this Korg synth so any input received would be greatly received.
One thing I did try was turning off the auto power off in utilities and it turned off ok but I think that may have been coincidental since it does seem to have worked since.

Pulling the power at the mains is likely to build up an increase in the likelihood of potential problems, since the Wavestate shutdown process involves a certain amount of internal housekeeping.

Hopefully the Wavestate is being left for a few seconds, after playing or adjusting any of the controls, before holding the Power button in for around 2-3 seconds, to try to initiate the shutdown process.

Is there an external MIDI activity coming into the Wavestate that could effectively be preventing the shutdown?

Thanks for your reply. It’s just plugged with my headphones in no other connection. I hadn’t realised that you had to wait a few seconds after knob twiddling to switch off. Il try that:

The Wavestate software operates on a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3. The following might be of interest:

The user doesn't get to see the Raspberry Pi shutdown menu itself, or indeed any of the OS menus, but the button is suitably wired, together with code to trigger the instruction to shut the Pi down.
