Hi everyone.
KingKORG sounds fantastic but the Multi/Poly uses a more modern software and maybe stronger hardware .
What do you think ?

In terms of emulation of classic synths, KK emulated assorted filers, e.g. Minimoog, Oberheim SEM, and Prophet 5, but as I just mentioned in another thread, the Multi-Poly also emulates not just the classic filters, but also envelope and portamento behaviors, which gives it a leg up in that function. And I think I read that the filters have been improved too...? OTOH, KK also does some Roland ("Acid") emulation which the Multi/Poly apparently does not, and it has some "bread and butter" rompler sounds (piano, etc.), and it also has a DW-8000 type of DWGS foundation to it, which I don't think the Multi/Poly has... and also the tube (in the full size version). Each also has some options for their own unique characters, apart from their emulations of the classics. So... similarities and differences. From what I can tell, I think the the Multi/Poly has an improved interface, though.

It is a killer app for the mPoly.

Justo to clarify... like the tube, this is in the full-size version, but as far as I can see, not in the Neo version.

Anyone have both yet?

I still have my original KK, plus a Kronos and a Hydrasynth. I feel like I am more than covered on the synth side, but this seems to genuinely getting good reviews.

I have both the Multi/Poly and the KingKorg NEO. I love them both. They are significantly different, but both sound great. Right now, I prefer to play the KK Neo because it is simpler and easier for me to get the sounds I am looking for -- that suit my own music. I am not looking to emulate historical synths, but rather to find sounds I like and that work with my own unique playing style.

The Multi/Poly is considerably more complex, and therefore ultimately more capable. Four layers with four oscillators in each layer (the Multi/Poly) gives a lot more options than two layers with three oscillators in each layer (the KK Neo). However, except for some highly specialized situations 16 oscillators going at once is not likely to be very useful. Most of presets that come with the Multi/Poly use just one layer, or sometimes two. Maybe there is a preset that uses all four layers, but I haven't found that yet.

The oscillators and filters sound great on both. There is some overlap in the sounds that can be readily created. It could be said that the KK Neo is for players, while the Multi/Poly is for sound designers. But that would be overly simplistic as both synths can be great for playing and for sound design.

One notable difference is the keyboard. Both are typical unweighted synth actions, but they are not the same. Korg has stated specifically that the Multi/Poly has a new keyboard, whereas the keyboard on the KK Neo is the same as that on the Wavestate, Modwave, and OpSix. The new keyboard on the Multi/Poly has a noticeably better feel and it is easier to control dynamics with precision.
