EC5 MIDI Switch Controller Box for KORG Pa 700 / Pa 1000 / Pa 5X
Hello dear Korgians
I registered here in the forum a few weeks ago mainly to find out everything from the users
about the Pa5X and to collect information. ( translated with Google Translator )
I would like to introduce myself briefly my name is Karl-Eike Oppermann born 1944
I live in Germany in a small village near Kassel and Marburg ( center of Germany )
in the German Korg Forum I was registered for many years as Opa Karl-Eike.
My hobby is music keyboard / vocals / guitar played for a few years as a guitarist with Stratocaster
in local bands, then more interested in keyboards especially MIDI programming
Styles , Midi etc. VST Halion 6 , Halion 3 ( standalone ) various midi sequencer software etc.
As a solo entertainer or small dance bands I used the Roland Keyboard E20 and TR 626 Drum Expander
and the D50 synthesizer incl. various expanders e.g. Wersi EX10R
For longer-term engagements in hotels or dance halls, I then added the Wersi W 248 organ
built as a self-assembly kit.
My first Korg instrument was the synthesizer M1 61 keys and the M1ex and from 2002
the first PA80 Arranger which I still own today and, to be honest, would never sell.
I upgraded the PA 80 with the USB interface from Musitronics right after I bought it
with it I was connected to the data exchange directly via USB and PC on the PA80 HD as ext.LW
especially the style programming for PA80 / Pa1X with the software StyleWorks via the direct
direct USB port worked excellently, no floppy disks were needed.
So far I have owned, tested and played all Korg keyboard arrangers including the PA5X
which I bought about 4 weeks after it was on the market but then sold again because of
sold it again because of the known defects and limitations.
From now on we offer : EC5 MIDI Switch Controller Box for KORG Pa 700 / Pa 1000 / Pa 5X
IMPORTANT ! No conversion of the original KORG Multifunctional Pedal
See here English Translate

Hello dear Korg musicians do you also miss the EC5 connection on the above mentioned keyboards ? especially the style players need a controller
We hereby offer an alternative project box :
EC5 MIDI Switch Controller
the connection via the MIDI IN port on the KORG Professional Arranger is programmed
in a few minutes and stored in the controller
The program settings of the controller with our own development GUI Editor ( Graphical User Interface )
ATTENTION : We offer 3 high-quality project boxes for testing
incl. Software Editor
The user needs the KORG EC5 multifunction pedal with original 6 pole EC5 cable and a standard
DIN 5 midi cable and a 9 - 12 volt power supply for the project box
The project boxes are still being modified
the GUI controller software via EMail .

Re: EC5 MIDI Switch Controller Box for KORG Pa 700 / Pa 1000 / Pa 5X
Hello everyone,
ATTENTION: new option for buttons D and E on the EC5 pedal only for PA5X.
No conversion of the multifunctional pedal, the D and E buttons can now be used for the assign pedals if desired
a 6.35 mm stereo jack cable. The A / B / C buttons are via the MIDI IN socket
connected to the keyboard.
The E key only for PA700 / PA1000 in mono allows the user to determine all functions, e.g. Variation Up / Down or Harmony On / Off in the keyboards mentioned above
The functions are described in the keyboard operating instructions
the other keys are controlled via MIDI via program Chance
Greetings Karl-Eike

Re: EC5 MIDI Switch Controller Box for KORG Pa 700 / Pa 1000 / Pa 5X
This is interesting and was quite exciting for me because one of several reasons I have not moved to the PA5x is the absence of EC5 pedal support.
What you are offering here for PA5x owners is really an option to "keep your EC5 and turn it into a MIDI control pedal" - is that correct?. I could achieve this with other MIDI pedals like FCB1010. My issue regarding the "no-EC5 on PA5x" is that several functions are not controllable by a MIDI pedal - like VAR-up/down - you have no option but a PA5x switch or single pedal. Korg has never ever provided any decent MIDI implementation details since the PA1x. The EC5 on PA4x (and earlier models) will execute VAR-up/down but is not via MIDI. If you can achieve this with your pedal converter, then I will become more interested in moving to the PA5x.
Take care
Pete

Hello ,
Thank you very much for the friendly feedback.
In the last few weeks I had the Pa80 and Pa800 available to test the 3 project boxes
On Friday I was able to get a cheap PA1000 from a former Musik Meyer employee
(Korg) buy in Marburg it's about 45 km to Marburg so I had to take it
I'll test the project box again tomorrow and then upload a small clip to YouTube
I am initially offering a project box to test for free for a PA5X user.
For PA 700 / PA1000 users, however, the E button is also in mono, depending on the hardware.
If the tests on the keyboard are successful
I would be happy if there is interest in the EC5 Switch Box here in the Korg forum
The project box contains an Arduino Uno with its own firmware
(no Arduino sketch is needed) the project box as described, including board for the sockets
and plugs as well as small parts fully assembled, software controller by email.
I always say anything is possible
Greetings Karl Eike

Hello everyone
a free USB socket on the PA 5X for powering the project box
can be used at your own risk, but the 9-12 volt power supply is for
recommended for safe operation.

I'd be interested in connecting an EC5 to a PA1000.

Hi,
Maybe I am missing something here but there are numerous posts about this midi Switch Controller box but no mention of cost. Cost (by far) is the most important issue. If It is prohibitively expensive then it's pointless even discussing the box's merits as people will not purchase it. Could a Forum Member please point out what I am clearly missing, the actual price of this box inclusive of delivery to the U.K.
