I was always planning to get to know better the many sound engines of the Kronos.

There is always the G.A.S in the way, but hey honestly, the Kronos has such a huge potential, there's no REAL need of getting an opsix, and any other VA synth until we've delved into and exhausted Kronos' capabilities...

Has anyone done that before, concentrating on one engine (mainly MOD7, STR and AL-1) for a while and really fiddling with it from zero?
Maybe starting with the manual as there are some good examples, e.g. MOD7.

Yes, programming is for me one of the great and also fun aspects of the Kronos. I still didn't find much time for the STR-1 and MOD-7 as I am not as good with their concepts, but I enjoy working with the acoustic/electric pianos, CX-3, MS-20, Polysix and especially AL-1 engines, because of my experience playing analog/digital instruments/synths for decades, etc.

So I find it fun starting from scratch to emulate sounds I need, it can vary from old favorite modular MOOG sounds, CS-80 famous presets, or more rough ones like Jarre's LaserHarp, Kraftwerk weird synths, or an 8-string bass, etc. I also have fun creating complex multisamples/libraries for the HD-1 using the Kronos sampler. This takes lots of time and effort, but for me giving amongst the most satisfactory feels once it is done. Each engine has its advantages and unique parameters - the possibilities are near infinite. Wish I had much more time every week for programming.
