Hi,

I was just wondering the meaning of KRONOS name

We know that OASYS is the acronym for Open Architecture SYnthesis Studio

So I tried to imagine something similar for the KRONOS and this is the meaning that I gave

K ORG
R EALTIME
O PEN
N ATIVE
O PERATIVE
S YSTEM

I don't know if it makes any sense, but it's suggestive

Just like the M10 name (M1 successor) that was read upside down and became 01W, the Kronos was initially supposed to be called SONOR, but then the same guy at Korg who keeps reading all wrong saw RONOS instead, then added a K as first letter for Korg. #-o [-X :^o

I thought it was because the Japanese could relate to Klingons.

I thought that was Q'onos.

It's confusing b/c my wife clocks into work with an app called Kronos, even spelled the same.

It's well known among Klingons that humans are crap at spelling.

It is inspired by the greek god Cronus, Cronos or Kronos that was assimilated by the Roman mythology. As Wikipedia states:
His association with the "Saturnian" Golden Age eventually caused him to become the god of "time"
So it's clear, to the erudite connoisseur, that the Korg marketing trailblazers decided to name the OASYS successor with honor and respect to the ancient God that calmly and silently observes and rules over the startup time of the instrument.

Clearly the gods have way too much time on their hands.
