Pa5X Style To Keyboard Set Fault?

Hi everyone,
I have just Exchanged my beloved old Pa4X for a Pa5X.
I appear to have a problem with the Style To Keyboard Set Function on the Pa5X and I hope that someone can help with this. Firstly I have a Pedal connected to change the variation.
If I have the link flashing the behaviour is normal where pressing the pedal to change the variation also changes to the corresponding keyboard set.
However If I go into Rec/Edit then Into Recording Studio to do a quick record the function no longer works.
That makes recording a live play very difficult. I can do it by recording on my computer but that means that I cannot go back later on to change what I have to a Backing Track by silencing certain tracks for a vocal etc.
Does anyone have any knowledge/suggestions of how to deal with this.
