Hi all

had a problem playing in church where an amp for the monitors chipped out
and since that i have "NO OUTPUT" whatsoever from the extreme.

the guess is the keyboard got spiked. what do you think this means?

do i have to buy a new output board and if so from where?

thanx

Before you panic, go into the global settings menu, MIDI options and make sure that 'Local Control' is ON. There are a few more things to try in the Parameter Guide manual IIRC.

Try turning off the 'Valve Force' too, as if the valve has blown it will also prevent output.

If none of these help, check the headphone socket, and line-outs. If you have a laptop or minidisk or something with SPDIF input, try that too.

If the headphones are working and the line-out isn't it's probably the output opamps or a similar part of the analog output chain. While a proper Korg servicing is probably best for that, it's probably fixable by anyone who's good with electronics repair.

If none of the analog outputs are working but the SPDIF is it might be the DAC in which case Korg is probably your best bet.

Even if it was just the 'Local Control' thing, it's probably best to have the thing running off a surge-protected strip or even a UPS. Better safe than sorry...

Just want to add something else to the checklist by jpmorris when no output is coming from your keyboard:

- Hold buttons "-" and "Enter" (Self Check mode) while powering up
- After the Self Check has completed, press the page menu button
- Select "Select Keyboard"
- Check for the correct keyboard type (either 61, 76, 88 old or 88 new)
