KARO Virtual Analog Bank (128 patches) for Oasys
Hello!
Remember (my 64 AL1 patches):
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... highlight=
NOW:
Here's the demo of Karo Programs (64, mostly MS20 and Polysix). I used 14 patches, a drum track and a male speaking voice.
http://perso.orange.fr/rcmusic/KVA.mp3
So, the 128 patches bank is now ready. KARO will inform you of shipping date and price. The bank (along with the demo songs) will be on a 1 GB usb stick.
Thank you,
Richard

Will there be a 250GB hard disk edition tooI don't know may be so that the buyers would have a stick that they'll use for other things
I'm only joking, but I would highly recommend that you consider making this available without the memory stick, and downloadable. Everyone here will already have a memory stick, and the postal service is not the best way to delver such a tiny file. An email, or electronic download would be far better, and would cut down on all these unnecessary costs that your adding.
PCG files are generally either given away for free, or they are easily available electronically for very little cost. So, making it easily available will greatly help it's success.
Anyway.... Yeah baby. Love the sounds !!!
Your Mp3 is pumping away here, and my head is nodding with a big smile. Will be keeping my eye open for it's release.
Kind Regards.
Sharp.

Loading a bank from disk takes a couple of seconds....sebbytriton wrote:Always a great moment to listen yours demos !!!!!
Good works, very deep sound for this bank.
I'm waiting for a comment from KORG .............
It's time for KORG to upgrade OASYS to allow more bank storage !!!

Yes Dan, for sure we can do this but if I want to have all the PCG bank loader at powerup, is it a shame ?danatkorg wrote:Loading a bank from disk takes a couple of seconds....sebbytriton wrote:Always a great moment to listen yours demos !!!!!

For loading a large amoint of sample, I understand in some case we have to do a chioce but for PCG the memory usage is very less important.
Why not having the possibilities to Hav Bank -A1/A2/A3 .... instead of only Bank-A ?
If I want a fully loaded OASYS at power-up with all the future bank of RC-IA it is difficult to know in advance what bank I'm gonna use.

Hi RC-IA
They price the files very well, and they do not force people to by a memory stick, and expect delivery by post. They ALL only supply them as a download.
PCG files have been so freely available for years that, for you to release one commercially, you really need to focus on making it as easy to purchase and have it priced correctly.
Meaning, I think forcing people to buy a small file on a 1GB memory stick, and through the postal service is an unnecessary cost. It will push up the price for no real reason, and delay things.
Hope you see what I'm getting at here. You have a a great bank of sounds here and if distribution is done right, you can sell it for less, and make more profit.
Buying hardware (1GB memory sticks) and paying postal charges is of no benefit to your pocket.
Kind Regards.

Yeah, for sure, and this is exactly my point.regarding cost, there are many sound designer companies who charge for patches Bank...

Program and Combi banks are pretty big, actually. Doubling or tripling the number would mean, for instance, that the EXs2 piano could not be loaded on a stock 1GB system.sebbytriton wrote:For loading a large amoint of sample, I understand in some case we have to do a chioce but for PCG the memory usage is very less important.

PCGs can store entire setups for the whole OASYS, including all Programs, Combis, Wave Sequences, Drum Kits, etc. The disk can hold hundreds or thousands of PCG files (for *millions* of sounds), and they load in seconds. It's a central part of the system, in my opinion.sebbytriton wrote: If I want a fully loaded OASYS at power-up with all the future bank of RC-IA it is difficult to know in advance what bank I'm gonna use.
I'm curious; how many people use the disk to store and load PCGs?

I would use disk space heavily for storage, but I would also only have a single PCG file that would contain everything I would ever use.I'm curious; how many people use the disk to store and load PCGs?
Loading other PCG files for me creates incompatibility with SNG files I would have been working on for clients and myself. So, I tend to only ever depend on 1 PCG file.
Otherwise I would need to keep track of sounds, and I'd probably end a new PCG file for every few songs. This is the way I've worked for years, and it's somthing I've stuck with.
Regards.

That's exactly what I would recommend - and is also the way that the system is set up! The magic part is that it means that you *don't* have to keep track of sounds; the PCG for the song or project will always have the right stuff for that project, even if you do other things later.Sharp wrote:Otherwise I would need to keep track of sounds, and I'd probably end a new PCG file for every few songs..
