if you just want to record a stereo mix of your set, either set the input of a track in live to resample or record from the master out send of the firewire return feed

Are you playing entirely in Ableton? Or are you using vinyl or CD, also?

If you are playing within Ableton, then it is always better to stick with pure MIDI control and record the set in Ableton. The file size will be smaller and you can always go back and edit your set. When you are ready to put your set to CD or your iPod, you just render to disk.

If you are playing vinyl or CD, then you'll need to route those audio sources into one of your tracks in Ableton and record. This will create a WAV file while you play to hold the audio from your external sources. If you use this method, you'll need to be sure to use ZeroEdit to change your Audio I/O settings. You'll want to use either the Post Fader or Master Bus setting. This way you'll record the actions taken on the up-faders and EQs, etc...
