Transferring from pa80 flash card to pa800

Post by Arash »

Hello Friends: I would appreciate very much if someone on this board help me with this. I have a 16MB flash card (made for pa 80) with many nice songs on it and I am very interested to transfer these songs(styles) to my pa 800. I used a friend's pa80 keyboard but for some reasons I could not locate the Flash card anywher in the pa 80. To access this flash card for playing, on the left side of pa 80, both lights are turned on (like the favorite in pa800). Unlike some previous flash card you had to use it in combination with the floppy, this one doesn't need the floppy. I heard now a day, the flash cards are locked. Is this true? and if it is, shouldn't be at least detected some where in pa80 and is it possible to unlock it.? These are some 30 plus very high quality persian songs and I'll be more happy to send it to those of you guys interested once it is transferred from the flash card>floppy>USB>pa800. I hope, I did not confuse anyone. THX.

It is very likely that the card is locked. Yes, there are ways to get the information out of the card. No, sorry I will not post any instructions, since that card is locked it means that the owner does not want u to ilegally distribute the material, which may or may not be his originally.

Pa800 Dude: I understand your feelings but I paid lots of money for that Flash card and I think I have the rights to trensfer it to my Pa800. How many times should a person pay for one item.

As many times as needed. It is just like buying a new Microsoft Windows OS, it is the same logic. Today I buy the XP, tomorrow I upgrade to Vista. Today I buy the backup for PA80, tomorrow for PA800. Do not forget that some people support their familly with the products that they are creating and selling. Another example are the protected uberschall products.

Arash, PA800dude is right, yes i agree with you you paid for the card
but all you paid was 150$ for an empty card and thats what you get.
The 8 MB TA card that KORG use to sell it for PA80 was like 350$, i
also sell 16MB cards for PA80 but full...600$ straight.
And yes we have to pay many times:
I bought EXTREME and paid 1700$...
then i bought MOSS board and paid 500$...
then i bought RAM and paid 90$...
then i bought a USB stick and paid around q120$...
then i bought a case paid 180$ for it...
then i bought a SHEET cover for the synth and paid 30$ for it...

I hope you get my point.

Hey why don't you two save it and stop lecturing me moral issues. I simply asked for an advice. If you don't want to help please just don't respond. BTW, U R wrong and I paid $350.00 for that with anticipation to buy a pa 80 when I did not even have a korg pa 80. I just play for fun and that is all to it. :x

Re: Transferring from pa80 flash card to pa800

ok, some good news and some bad news !! which one first ???? haha..

ok, i went to fry's electronics here is california and purchased this NEXSTAR3 internal to external driver converter ...took out my pa80 HD 2.5 ATA and installed it inside of that box..

well, let's begin with the bad news ...which i hate it..lol

ALL the pa80 samples are in .DAT format which is NOT recognized at this point of time by PA800 and NOT being able to see them with PA800 software..so, i have to find a way to convert them to PA800 format, then i have a CHANCE to use them again...

the good news which might not be a big deal to some people, which is PA800 CAN see the rest of DATA easily (by using this enclosure) ....although you CAN saves your styles, sounds and many other settings(from P80) on a floppy and put them on a PEN drive OR your PC HD via USB and back to PA800..

so, arash you can try to buy a NEXSTAR3 or similar for only $17. and exchange DATA back and forth between you PA80 and PA800..easily without use of a floppy or a PC..

since i didn't have any song on my pa80, i am not %100 sure, but like i said it sees ALL data, including styles, sounds, performance, global...so you should be able to see your songs without MULTISAMPLES..

there are few other ways to bring your PA80 samples to PA800, I'LL SEE WHAT I CAN DO !!

here is the pic :

Dear Q.E. : Thx for trying and I wish you luck. Like I said, I don't have a pa80 and I bought the Flash card with anticipation to buy a pa 80 later. I later found out that there was a newer pa800 available. I don't think it is worth it to go through that much of trouble trying to recover these songs. After all, I am not a musician and just play for fun in privacy of my home. However, I was merely curious as why I could not even detect the flash card on a pa 80. I think the equvalent of a flash card on a pa 80 (Marked as HD) would be "favorites" on pa800. Therefore, even if it is locked, it should be detected as something in a pa80.

ok dear arash !!

well, i know one thing for sure that PA80 flashcards CAN BE EASILY DAMAGED (i don't think its locked, specially if your PA80 cannot see it)....i have couple cards that had persian/arabic/turkish beats on them, but since i was using them alot and travelling alot going through security scanners , so finally they got damaged, but the good news is I HAVE A BACKUP of those persian styles, if you want i'll send you a link of "yousend.com" with a BACKUP FILE, all you have to do is REFORMAT you flashcard and put the backup file on your HD, and PA80 gives you an option to RESTORE all those beats back on your CARD(there might be some of my own bets on that backup too....lol)....i tried it few times in the past and it DID work with PA80...what you say ???

good luck..
