Using the R3 as effects processor for other instruments

I've been thinking about getting the R3 to use as an effects processor for my guitar along with playing the keys.

Are there alot of creative opportunities to just using the R3 as an effects processor for other instruments and external sounds to use going through the audio ins?

What have been most users experiance using the R3 in this fashion?
