I find if I load a .kar file in Sequencer Mode and edit it (say re-mix and change instruments) and re-save it, the Pa1x always saves it as a .mid file rather than a .kar file.
The lyrics still show in song play mode but it is listed as a midi and not as a karaoke file.
Does anyone know how to keep it recognized as a .kar file??? or am I doing something wrong?
Best,
John
PS: check out this site it has thousands of .kar files - some of them sound great with a little bit of re-assigning and mixing.

Is this legal?

Re: Problem Saving Edited Karaoke Files
You cannot save as .kar file on Pa1X (Pro). You could have a look at http://www.gnmidi.com/, where you'll find lots of handy midi related programs, many for free, one of them being text2kar to change the format from "midi with lyrics" to "karaoke" (http://www.gnmidi.com/utils/text2kar.zip).Reuben wrote:Does anyone know how to keep it recognized as a .kar file??? or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks Admar,
I'm familiar with the gnmidi program - I had a registered version years ago. It was really useful for adjusting midi files for a keyboard I used to have that didn't have all the options the Pa1xpro now has. I'm not brave enough to try the freeware programs that run in a Dos window. I might try just changing the extensions from .mid to .kar on the computer and see what happens.
All the best,
John
