I've run out of program banks!
Hi,
After loading the EXs3 programs into Program User Bank G, I've completely run out of program banks. I had the MOD-7 programs stored in Program User Bank G and had to overwrite it to audition the new EXs3 programs.
User Bank A has the EXs2 programs as well as some programs I've created.
I have Richard Devine's LAC-1 programs in User Bank B & C and the official LAC-1 programs in User Bank D.
User Bank E has STR-1
User Bank F has CX-3
What do I do? Is there some funtion planned in a future update to double the number of program slots available? There are so many programs that I haven't used or played around with that I need them available for me to audition in one go before using it in a song. So, it would be nice if there was some way to double the number of program banks.
I know we are limited by the number of hardware buttons for program and combi banks on the OASYS, but you can potentially have an unlimited number of banks on the LCD user interface.
You could also potentially wire the function key to the program key to switch program and combi banks in groups of 7.

I appreciate that some users have asked for the ability to have more Program banks loaded simultaneously, and I understand why that might be desirable.elvisjohndowson wrote:Hi,

For now, note that you can audition Programs directly from disk, without loading them first. Just navigate into the bank on disk, select a Program, and play the keyboard.
This works perfectly as long as they only use samples which are already loaded. From a practical perspective, this means that you can always audition any AL-1, CX-3, MS-20EX, or PolysixEX sounds, as well as any factory STR-1 or MOD-7 sounds. If you have 2GB installed and configure the Expansion Sample Setup to load EXs1, 2, and 3, you can always audition any factory Program.
Best regards,
Dan

More banks would be very much appreciated!danatkorg wrote:

BTW, as another feature request, it'd be great if the sound didn't cut out when you start playing a program or combi from the list view, & then switch over to the program or combi view while still playing it. (not a huge issue, & don't know if this is technically hard to change or not... just thought I'd mention it)

Yes, MrT-Man, I'm with you! Very often, I'll audition a Prog or Combi from the list view, and then turn Karma on or make some other Karma changes. When you hit OK to go to the main page, the sound stops and everything is reset. Very frustrating! And clearly unnecessary since, when going the other way, the sound does not stop.
Who's going to add it to the wish-list - you or I?

Sina,
If I remember correctly, the EMU Morpheus module had a main program bank that went to about 400 programs consecutively numbered.
But regardless of how you're going to configure banks, the decision has to made if you're going to have extra memory space to hold the extra programs for a broader sound palette or not.
The quickest way to do that would be for Korg to go to 2 gig ram boards instead of 1 gig. Doubles the working ram capacity.
