Weird monitor problem

I use M-audio bx8 studiophiles (bought used), were working fine, never abused them...

recently, i noticed that one monitor "chokes" when sound reaches gets louder, (it acts sort of like a compressor but instead of attanuating it mutes completly..)

at quite volumes it sound ok, axept that i hear very quite hum in this monitor....
