Inspired by Worth's vocal harmony demos on the "Korg Arranger Secrets" DVDs I've recently been practicing vocals using the harmoniser myself.

I always play my Pa1x in full keyboard scanning mode and I have this configuration locked so it never changes.

However, initially the vocal harmonies sounded terrible. The chords just weren't correct. However the Arranger section was playing just fine following the chords I was playing. What the hell was happening? I just spent three days trying to find out what was wrong.

Eventually I went to the "Global -> Voice Processor Preset: Harmony" page where the Harmony Note Input setting was the default value of "Chord Scan" which should mean that the vocal harmoniser "should take its chords from the same chord scanning area dedicated to the Arranger." (I quote from the manual).

I then changed the setting to "Full Keyb" and I saved the Voice Processor preset (Staying Put 4 Now), and everything came to life - my vocal harmonies sounded great even though I'm no vocalist. Go back to one of the other presets where the harmony note input was still set to "Chord Scan" and the initial problem recurred where the chords are discords compared with what is playing on the arranger.

I think this is may be an "undocumented feature" in OS3.01. Could anyone else please test this and confirm whether the same thing happens when you try vocal harmonies in full keyboard scanning mode.?

I played in so arranger (scan lower choir) carefully selecting the functions of scanning stile and play .. very poor. I feel that the prosesador harmony tc helicon not esta'haciendo good job. I tested other functions and simply I do not like the way I was accompanying the choir. I feel that when I move my left hand (lower) prosesador harmony. FOLLOW failed to my harmony. Simply listening almost misplaced. Repeat I have tried various forms of harmony and I like ... for example I want to sing the part .1. Vos and that the harmonizer tc helicon do the rest. 2. And 3. But even so there .... A DELAY in my follow you. This is the problem ... I do not like to make comparisons but I used other prosesadores harmony ... And the truth is no difference is more serious ... the prosesador voice of pa80 korg .. I feel better and easier wing when playing live and in hhhhhaaa and you can connect your guitar there and have the same chorus, delay, distor, heavy metal and good sound rob ...... I could not buy the option extension of harmony tc helicon .... but ... but ... I see .. so difficult. A welcome my good friend

Having set up the vocal harmony processor so that it is now working correctly, (ie having worked around what I think is a software fault), I think it sounds great. There are no "delay" problems that I can tell. I could maybe send anyone who is interested an .mp3 file with one of my vocal harmony recordings, in case you'd like to give me some feedback. I'm not a great singer either and I been trying to play with the harmonizer and haven't been sucessfull in the sound quality. Do you know how I can add more Reverd to my voice? I have tried to play with the knows and can get the right amount of reverd. Also, you mention that you change the global settings on the keyboard from chord scan to full keyboard. My question to you is that if I leave the settings in full keyboard can I still haronize by me playing chords on the left hand and other stuff with my right hand and the keyboard is split not in full keyboard mode?

Hi Ricardo,

Yes you can set up the harmoniser to work in the way you play (split keyboard) and it should work that way as default without requiring any settings changes for this. The relevant setting is explained onm p.249 of the OS2.52 manual, it is on the "Global -> Voice Processor Preset : Harmony" page and is called "Harm note Input". You will want the Source to be "Lower" or "Chord Scan" although the latter setting is suspect as you'll see from my earlier post.

I recommend that to start with, you select the harmoniser preset setting called "StayingPut4Now" which is either preset 3 or 4. You need to increase the relative gain of the harmonised vocals compared with your "raw" vocals, because the default setting is too quiet to hear the harmonies properly.

On the "Global -> Voice Procesor Setup: Lead Voice" tab, decrease the Lead Voice Level to about -10 dB.

On the "Global -> Voice Processor Preset: Harmony" tab, set the overall Harmony voice level to 0 dB.

Then save the Global - Voice Processor Preset and Global -> Voice Processor Setup settings from the drop down page menu.
