Which Electribe?

Post by 1150A »

I came across this video of Snareface.. He comes on at around 5:10.. And looks like he's using an MPC1000.

I was wondering.. would i be able to create my glitchy samples on the Electribe? Or am I better off editing sounds on my computer, then bringing them to the Electribe. For example, in the video, he has quick 32nd notes all over the place.. If I had a closed hi hat sample (just hitting once), and wanted to make it so that it when I hit a pad, it would do a roll as long as I hold it, would I need to edit it that way on the computer? Or would I be able to do this on the unit? If not, what do you recommend for this?

I also would like to be able to be able to put another track of drums over the glitchy sounds. More of a regular 909, or 808 sound. Can I do this with 1 unit, or would I need 2?

Also, which electribe model would you recommend for this? I plan to use it just as a drum machine.

Thanks

The EMX has a roll button that can trigger rolls and you can even modulate it to make quick glitchy type sounds. You can set it globally for 2, 3 or 4 hit's between each sequencer step, and it is triggerable per part.

I'm not sure if the ESX has this feature as well, but it's mighty useful for those intricate hi hat patterns. It would be even cooler if you could define accents for the roll as well, but I'll take what I can get :)
