I am using my Electribe to control the Microkorg. The Electribe has two keyboard parts. If I say, keyboard part 1 is on MIDI channel 1 in the Electribe and then go to the Microkorg and set it at midi channel 1, it works.

So my question is this. The Electribe has two keyboard parts. I want to know if I can have both keyboard parts, on separate MIDI channels, being sent to the MicroKorg, and have the Microkorg generating two completely different tones at the same time?

It seems like you can't do this because it seems like the Microkorg can only be set on one MIDI channel at a time.

I can send both keyboard parts on one MIDI channel but if I do that, they are both generating the same tone and whats the use of that?

There has to be a way that I can get two keyboard parts to play out of the Microkorg at the same time, so I can have it doing a base line and a keyboard part together using the MIDI data sent from the Electribe!

I just that someone else asked the same question I asked and I saw the answer... I'm very sad to know that the microkorg isn't multi timbral, I had to look that word up. DAMN! Is there a work around? Whatever, I'm new to this stuff, I barely know how to use either the Electribe or the Microkorg, but I'm sad to hit a road block so early.

whoa...kinda late on this one, im just now reading it.
But i was pondering the same thing a few days ago....i kind of found a workaround though. On the MK you can have two timbres sounding simultaneously, so that basically means that when you program in your bassline or lead or whatever, you can turn the layer feature on and choose another sound to use in conjunction with the sound that you have currently programmed.
So that means you can snatch a sound from the trance bank and slap it together with a patch from say the retro bank.
The downside to this of course, is that the two patches are going to playback the same melody, in unison.
But if your working with an ESX....just sample and than layer whatever your playing from the microkorg in the ESX's sequencer.

on the ms2000 you can do a split voice, dual, or monosynth.. can't you do that on the MK? If you can do a split, you can have 2 voices controlled seperately at the same time.. tho your polyphony is limited to 5.
