message "generic device error" with the hard disk

Post by mde »

hi and happy new year for all of you !

:D I am a new lucky owner of a PA2X pro and I am very happy of it except of the following thing :

 I have frequenly problems with the Hard Disk.
When I load new styles, the PA2X displays "Please Wait" for a long time(sometimes till 10 minutes) and then I can't no more work with the hard disk.
I have this message on the screen : "generic device error".

I reboot. Same message again. Then I format the hard disk. after a couple of minutes, I have the message "generic device error" again. I reboot. Then I can work again with the Hard Disk. But I have to reload my datas.

:?: Maybe the problem comes from the OS (V1.0). it is a little bit young !

That sounds very much to me like the HDD in you PA2X has bad sectors and is corrupting itself, or is just plain bad from the factory. Maybe someone who knows more about them can shed some light on things.

Agree, seems most likely that the HDD needs to be replaced, sorry.

Best regards,

Hi
the hard drive is alright -
it is the new styles you are loading in -they are not compatible hence genetic error- use compatible styles only

No, I was loading the O.S. 1.51 file, my pen drive had only that file and today my Pa800 threw that message... eventually I had to format my pen drive. My machine is also taking more than normal 'please wait' time...

Rob & R34pz are right.

P.S. Rob I have experimented all, I am writing in detail now, I shall post in thread soon...

Regards
