Korg X50 : Guide to importing Triton PCG's (=new sounds!)

Install the supplied X50-Software and connect via your USB cable.
Run the "X50 Editor", then use the "Utility" button and select "Import" - you can pick *.PCG files there.
However most of the Triton PCGs available are Programs for Bank E, which the X50 does not have. Problem? Grab a HexEditor and off we go.

Get http://hhd.df.ru/Download/free-hex-editor-neo.exe for example.
Then, open the PCG file, let's say "ROSE.PCG" and find the 0x00033 position:

"04" means it will be loaded to "Bank E". Change it to 00 for "Bank A", 01 "Bank B" etc.
Then save the file, and import it via the X50 software.

Voila. Welcome new sounds.
There might be some multisample and/or conversion problems, but most of the sounds work very good anyway.
I'm guessing TritonLE/TR series has the greatest compatibility - so check that download section.

Um.. well, they are new sounds. That's how you call them. But not new samples. :)

this is really cool that you've posted this
havn't tried importing programs yet, but will definitely be checking them out.

i think this thread should be made 'sticky'

(edit: actually looked at my micro-x and realised that unlike the x50, it has a bank E)

Btw. Korg KARMA patches are also importable (however those often miss multisamples and come out weirdish) and I found quite a few sounds totally worth the browsing.

Tried it out, downloaded legacy i / ii/ iii from http://www.tritonhaven.com/downloads/pcgs.html
edited with free hex prog from
http://www.hhdsoftware.com/Products/hom ... -free.html
loaded them onto banks B C D via x50 editor.
saved the .xall file so i can load up all 3 in 1 go whenever i want.
peice of cake and some nice dirty sounds, amongst others.
some not great but worth a mess.

worth saving your settings as a .xall via the editor before, just in case you loose stuff!

Time to pilage the internet for more random sound collections.

CHEERS :)

Turns out that in KARMA patches (and most likely other ones as well) it wasn't a case of multisampling, but proper assignment to INT and MIDI channels. That way all sounds went off and sounded correctly, missing few IFXs though.

Highly recommended is a Triton Studio preload, sounds very nice.

I'm trying to import the Liquify sound by Luca from Progsounds, but to no avail. The MicroX editor spends a long time transmitting, but in the end nothing is changed in the MicroX.

Does anyone have any tips? Or some kind of tool to read the PCG on the PC (= Mac ;) ) so I can manually insert the patches in my MicroX.

Or prehaps someone with both a Triton and a MicroX can make an .Xall for me ;)

I had same problem in my system, but Mr. Hitesh Shukla from Audio plus korg India, guided me and it has worked wonderfully since then.

you have to configure the korg usb midi driver in computer step by step as shown below.

start -> prog-> korg->

hope it works for you too.

Now it transmits to 100%, but then the x50 editor gives an error saying "memory could not be read" ... or it simply crashes without warning and does absolutely nothing ...

The other case is that it messes up my banks completely ... So in combi mode, on all the sounds ... i get, amongst others, a lead sound for examlpe ...

HELP

Check progsounds again, I uploaded a MicroX/X50 version of the patch there :)
