MicroKorg, what is the best software to record w/ the pads?

I bought my Microkorg about a year and a half ago. It as the 16 touch pads, 8 knobs, and 8 sliders but I have been crazy busy with school and haven't had a chance to use it except for some testing in Fruityloops. The MN is MC-1
I no computer noob and I am in search of a program that can assign sounds and effects to my touch pads and knobs with an intuitive recording interface. I can handle some programming for a good recording experience. I just want to use these pads to naturally lay down some good bars, loop the best bars, and be able to use a mic to record some guitar and eventually vocals.
Anyone have any good suggestions? I would love to utilize this beautiful keyboard

i think you have a micro control not a microkorg, microkorg is a vocoder and synth, microcontrol is a midi controller.
but sounds like ableton live would be perfect for what you want, its an absolutely amazing program.

I have Pro Tools 7.3LE with the M Box Mini, it does the job great. $279.99 got me the interface and software. User friendly as well.

Ableton Live I find is the easiest to use in terms of adding effects and modifying tracks, as well as for live DJing. Cubase is pretty good too but that is more specifically geared to recording one track at a time and is not geared as much towards synths IMHO

yeah i find cubase is more geared towards a home recording studio type of environment
whereas ableton seems very much geared towards using hardware plugins and DJ
im no pro but i have both programmes and that is how i look at their uses

Reason 4 makes lovely sounds, and Cubase 4 rots in its box alongside it's bloody irritating USB-port eating dongle which is the bane of laptops with only two USB ports.
