Okay everyone I want a good workstation. I already have the microkorg. Its great but want something I can really expand my skills with, and I will be taking piano lessons and need something to practice with. I was looking at the TR61 workstation a little pricey at $999.99US. Is there something not as expensive but good?

SKITS

Go to Guitar Center and offer them $800 "out the door" for the TR 61....They'll laugh & probably counter with $800 plus tax.....make em throw in a stand...Stick to your guns and watch em flinch

(BTW I just picked up a "used "TRITON EXTREME 76" for $900 at Guitar Center)

They WILL go down on price

Can't help wondering if you really meant "beast" or is that supposed to read "best"....????

Bit of both I suppose

Good luck with your purchase and welcome to KF!

For a really good beginner workstation check out the TR series.
If you want something a little cheaper keep an eye out for a used korg triton classic, triton le , trinity, yamaha motif, these are top workstations
& you could pick them up real cheap these days.

Yeah I said "beast". The korg tr61 sounds like my best bet. And thanks for the invite.

The workstations with touch screens are a LOT easier to use and learn, so if you can get a good deal on a Triton Extreme 61 for example, you'll get a lot more out of it than the TR61. The Triton Extreme also has a better keyboard action, way more sounds, and more IFX slots. As Steve says, good deals can be had on the Extreme as it has been discontinued and replace by the M3.
