How does the XMS4 Piano Sounds compare to the EXB1 Concert Grand Piano sound?
Also, on the musitronics.org web site, what does it mean when it says for the XMS4 board that it is "Full compatible to EXB1 Piano Board from KORG"?
Thanks

I think its reffering to exb1 which is the golden entertainer exb. U can check them out at www.pa1xpro.de

I think what it means is that if you have the Korg Piano expansion board , it wont interfere or cause any compatability problems with it. In other words you can have both boards installed on your PA1X and there wont be any problems.

I own the XMS4 and it is truly outstanding

It´s nearly like worth said.
It´s meant in this way that you can replace the Korg Piano Card with our without getting problems in your files or styles or any other compatibility problems.

Hope some of you will come to Musikmesse Frankfurt

I am thinking about purchasing the XMS4 board from musitronics.org, but currently have the Korg EXB1 board already installed, I was wondering if anyone had both boards installed and how the XMS4 Piano sound compares to the Korg EXB1 Concert Grand Piano sound?

I have the Korg Exb1 card and never use it. To my ears the sounds on the Korg Expansion card are very unrealistic and appear to be a re-hash of some old korg sounds of 10 years ago. The pa1x factory piano sounds are far better in my opinion. Not suprisingly the best sounds on the Exb1 are just a re-mix the factory sounds and dont even address the Exb1 card!. (look at Bright Piano and Euro Grand for eg. - in Sound Mode you can see that the sounds are coming from factory Rom not Exb1).
I too am interested in the XMS4 board but can't justify the expense at the moment.
Sorry I haven't answered your question.
Regards,
John

I have the EXB01 Piano Card of Korg and it's Fantastic!!! I use only this Piano sound. It's far better than the internal rom piano of Pa1x.

Do you use the performances provided from korgpa? Have tweak in any way the sounds from exb? For me the sounds are good but not what i am looking for!!! I have a roland JV-80 and it has great piano sounds! Not as realistic as exb or the grand touch but bright and clear.

Hi Steve

xms1 is selling for 499 euros which is 777.00 us dollars. XMS4 is 299 euros which is 465.00 us dollars.

If u are interested in xms1 i had recently gotten one, and for me its overkill, im just a home-hobbyist player. Make me an offer!
