Yes but an 88 note portable arranger with built in speakers is almost unheard of ! Thats a spectacular move by Korg and if i had the cash i would be seriously tempted. For me , i dont need 88 notes but its a luxury i would consider for playing at church where i needed some great accompaniment but the full range of keys. I probably would use it for mostly piano/Ep/Rhodes . Weighted keys dont work so well for fast runs but very nice for piano work.

I wish Korg all the best for this inovative and brave move.

There's an enthusiastic response on Synthzone here:

I think this would be an ideal instrument for church pianists. It looks like this is an upreated Pa500, but with the addition of Korg's top of the range concert piano with damper resonance and pedal effects that is also in the Pa2x. Everything depends on whether the Pa588 is substantially cheaper than the Pa2x. If there wasn't much in it then I think I'd still prefer a Pa2x for use in church, because it is very useful to be able to load new sample sounds from time to time, and the sample RAM is missing from the Pa588.

I love the way he double checks the model number at the start!

However....why would/should I trade in my PA1X Pro for it?
88 "fully" weighted piano keys...tempting, but is it enough?

Any more news anywhere on price?

Thomann are advertising the PA588 at £1306. (http://www.thomann.de/gb/korg_pa_588.htm) Called them today and they said it would be available from 01/07/08
