Strange and worryful Oasys freeze

Today I was playing on a Vox continental patch and the browser was up but I sure didn't hit cancel -- I had been playing for about 30 minutes on the patch without doing anything except playing and out of nowhere it locked up sustaining one note. The ONLY thing that did anything was the chord pads which all worked fine -- the screen buttons sliders and everything else didn't move or have any effect and that middle E just hung there forever.

But the chord pads worked, of all things.

Weird.

Hi Ryan

What version of the Oasys OS are you on?

If you can repeat it, definitely send the results to Korg USA Product Support. Perhaps you found a "bug".

I doubt that it can be reproduced with ease. It was just a glitch, but those can't be good especially since I have plans to play the Oasys live eventually.

Or my Korg just doesn't like The Doors.

Sorry to hear about your freeze. I can sympathize with you, but I must say that you can't let a freeze stop you from performing with your OASYS live. I've played somewhere around 75 shows with my O since I got it. Out of those shows, I've had 3 crashes while performing. Ideally that number would be zero, but 72/75 is pretty good I'd say considering how hard I push it live.

I'm definitely not advocating a re-install for your situation, but as a data point (per the direction of Korg support) I did a format and then re-install from 1.2.3 and then upgraded to 1.3.1a. That was after some troubleshooting but I've only had one freeze since then and it was a while ago--I use it every day.

Definitely contact Korg support if you're concerned. They're very helpful.

Which Program was it, what mode were you in at the time (Combi/Seq/Program), were you using Karma, and have you installed extra sample RAM ?

Did you have the 'Doors Disapprobation' option enabled in Global mode ? ;)

Cheers,

Daz.

I've played 175 shows and never had a freeze, though I'm not a heavy sequencer or KARMA user. It's been very reliable for me - I've had other boards crash on me though.
