I love when the organ kicks in. Now it's like an electric piano or something. I would like to hear a different or louder snare here, as it's somwhat buried, and the piano lead gets lost in the rhythm too. I really like the guitar, I'm so jealous of you all here doing great guitar. Why do I think this would be a great theme song for a western, maybe it's the clean guitar twang in there and the classic chords. The end seems just to stop abruptly and overall it could use some remastering, but I do like the vibe here, and like I said, maybe market this for the next spaghetti western, is Clint Eastwood working on a new one I wonder?

Is it still in season to say 'Dag!"? This month is just FULL of great songs!

This one is totally awesome. It has a relaxing feel to it, but at the exact same time there is this tenseness that I cannot put a finger on, which makes each measure of the song exciting...uh...until it slaps me around the 2 minute mark and cuts abruptly off!

And at any other time that might be cool. Maybe it is me. I will keep giving it listens.

The guitar is definitely something to rave about here.

Now the percussion. I am with George in that I hear in my head a thicker snare that is gated or maybe with a reversed reverb on it. However I can appreciate thinning out the percussion as the track is just very thick as is!

It really does have a western feel to it. Western Anime.

I only said that because of the percussion.

Chordial you outdid yourself at the last moment, and the results are astounding as with the other artists here. Thanks for sharing this with us.

George I think it is time we get release forms from everyone and prepare for the Korg Forums first ever "Best of OSAM". The problem is it will likely be a 12 CD set at the rate we are all going!

Hi Chordial!!,

Big, expressive intro..and a really ambient, yet strong melody!..I like the feel of the progression into relative keys for small forays...Very nice!!..

The perc. elements are the kind I like personally...(I am no drummer..and don't like doing full drum tracs as I am not good at it...)...The whole thing really comes together well as a theme typr movement...but

It could be more settled toward the E minor G Maj ending sequence,.. and turned then to a slower short theme in C maybe 10-15 bars... and then a repeat...with the beginning sequence...for a song that would be more complete and useful...(would be a simple aba form...)..like in a film sequence...as I so often see these things...Just a thought..

This started off as something else, it was slower, in 4/4 and had some lyrics that I couldn't finish.
This has evolved into this version over the last few weeks, and has turned out to be something of a different style for me.
I've been remixing this all day, and couldn't for the life of me get the clean sound I was thinking about, I'm not unhappy with the result, but it's not quite right.
Your encouragement and advice is worth its weight in gold.

Hey Simon,

Speaking as a guitarist I think that one of your great achievements, evident is this piece and the last, is playing the guitar without a strong keyboard accent. It sounds like you've been playing for far longer, not just because it sounds proficient, but because you're really playing the instrument how it was supposed to be played and exploring some of the more interesting expressive opportunities it offers that simply aren't things you can do on a keyboard or anything else. It took me far far longer to play the keyboards without a strong guitar accent, so it's something I appreciate

I really enjoyed listening to piece ... as others have commented it really summons up an image listening to this. I had the same movie clip in mind as the other guys I think, and that's a powerful thing to be able to evoke that. That's key to me.

Interestingly one of the things that lends atmosphere to this, is that when you mixed things it seems you scooped some of the mids out with an EQ possibly. It gives it an airy quality, dropping the mids but it's a tricky game to play because a little too much and things end up sounding a little wispy. I just did the opposite in my song, a few too many mids and that makes it sound present but somewhat blurry. I think the mid range frequencies are the most difficult to get right and it's worth giving them the extra attention when the sound you want isn't coming to you.

The mix was a problem, and recording guitars is all new to me too.
I could talk about guitars for hours, this is a totally new field for me, and I'm feeling my way through.
I do love the keyboard/guitar comination, but feel so much more comfortable on the keys!
I'm looking forward to April now, it's a totally blank canvas at the moment.

Very western-soundtrack sounding, I like a lot scapes it's telling me!

Just a very little note...
If you have the opportunity, try to "humanize" a bit the drum track, it sounds a few mechanic to my ears.

BTW, the breakdown is a perfect contrast to the opener.

After many listenings, if I may nitpick a bit-

I do hear a little choppiness in the guitar parts with a much closer listen as well as some trail off noise. If intend on revisiting this one that might could use some attention. I would also love to hear the synths come up a hair. Maybe a more distinct thinned out bassline to emphasize the beat would also be just right.

I completely overlooked the fact that you originally considered this with vocals. That would have been cool.

For this one I used the drums in the D1600 (tempo map), it was getting close to the deadline, and I wanted to get the track up.

Please do nitpick, it's all good.
