Keep me posted everyone in case I've missed you. By the way this signifies a posting and not necessarily a finished polished piece. So if I've seen you post something I'll check off your name.

George do you want to give Unimon and Jazlover credit for last month? I think we can let it slide once!
Anyway I was blown away by March's OSAM, and this month has started out fantastic! It was great to see everyone go out on a limb, some by adding vocals, others by just pushing to get a song done in a month. I learned quite a bit as I was getting great feedback on "Leave" which is how I developed such a finished piece for April.
This month is going to be awesome...but we are already one week in. So everybody tighten down, and don't let spring fever catch up to you.

I wonder how others think of counting the late comers on the checklist. In a way, I don't mind either way. I'm just worried about making these deadlines flexible and therefore losing the urgency of the month end.

Good news from you John, I'm at the initial stages of a new set of lyrics, and I always get somewhat depressed and anxious at this point. I have to keep telling myself that this is just part of the process, that good words will come to me if I persue my usual process. I do seem to always come up with something eventually. It may sound effortless in the delivery but I do sweat for days over just a few verses and a chorus. I think part of it is my genre of choice and the fact that there isn't a lot of music being written that I'm aware of that does exactly the style I'm working in at this time.

True! Your music is very fresh and unlike much of what is available today. And the fact that you keep delivering new material in that genre blows me away! The question is: WHAT genre would be the specifics of what you are doing? I think while many are the sources of your inspiration and genre, you are very original.
On the other hand, while my genre (pop) seems to be well-covered, I think that is what gives me the greatest challenge- how to keep it fresh!? I hate covering old ground and yet sometimes that is exactly what I am doing. All I can hope for is to bring something inspired to the table, because it is hard to be original within the realm of pop.
For those covering pure electronica, my hat is off to them! So far this OSAM group brings very fresh delivery of every track I have heard. Even works that are merely "in progress" have been exceptional. The variety is "extra spicy" (I rate it 5 peppers

)!
I am aiming for something a little more uptempo for this coming month...but I am more eager to see what the rest of the bunch is doing...considering we are VERY close to the halfway point!

Oh yes, that's pretty much exactly how it is here too

At the beginning of this weekend, I was definitely starting to feel a little anxious but by end of it, after pursuing my usual process and trying to just 'let it come', I have the beginnings of something that I like very much.
I've said before, that one of the major hurdles of doing this is getting past your own belief that you can't

Well, for me anyway !

LOL ... actually it's instrumental this time ... sorry
I was just referring to composing generally.
However I do have another vocal/guitar based track cooking. I've got a fair bit of the music/melody, but I am struggling lyrically and in terms of working what exactly the bits I have are going to be ... the verse or the chorus ? I really need to pick you guys brains just about good working practices regarding taking some idea that has come to you lyrically and then building up around that more methodically. It's a tricky one, I hardly know what question to even ask.
I've two vocal songs cooking up and both are rather languishing for the lack of knowing quite how to progress them.
So definitely an instrumental number this month, whilst I struggle with these other two pieces in the background for release later in the year.
