Work Station...Arranger?

What do you guys consider a workstation?
A synth without an arranger? I consider a workstation any keyboard where you can play and/or record at least 16 tracks of individual sounds to an external DAW.
The Arranger funtion is in ADDITION to the Workstation functions.
What would be the key thing a "work station" can do a PA2x could not do?

256MB is 26 minutes sampling time at 16 bit 44k in STEREO. Thats a lot.
10MB per minute. MOno even more.
If the Korg will sample in MP3 format you can get much more

I think the Pa2X has a sequencer or two. It has sampling as well.(52 minutes of mono)
Combos via layering.
I don't see a whole lot of differances. I had a Triton WS and do not find it more featured than the Pa2x. The PA does what the Triton did and more actually.

the PA seris has it all, good sequencer, good sampler, great onboard advanbced and detailed voice editing . its all there

No bro, it doesnt work like that. To see a difference you need to know
A LOT about SOUND EDITING, SEQUENCING, SAMPLING, LAYERiNG.
Even 300$ synths have Sampling and Sequencing nowadays, if you
call that SAMPLING and SEQUENCING then i dont know what to tell you.
You cant compare a PA and a TRITON Sequencer...its nowhere near.
As for Combining its different just putting 3 sounds on top of the other
and LAYERING them PROFESIONALLY in 8 Layers with 1000 features.
Go read and learn more, or put your hand on the machines, you'll know
then what the REAL WORLD works like.
Dont say the PA does more then TRITON, you'll embarass yourself,
maybe it does in the Arrangement part but thats what its made for.

Sorry to offend your sensibilities but I have owned a Triton and am fully aware of it's capabilities. I used it for the past 7 years along with a Proteus 2000 Proteus 1, Roland U222, QSR, with a DAW.
On board sequencing is something I only did while aboard cruise Ships....even then I used a Notebook DAW. Sampling again is done on the DAW THEN put in the keyboard. SO far nothing I personally did on the Triton cannot be done on the PA. I never had the occasion to layer 8 sounds on the same track. I used different tracks where I can control the result much better, I rarely used even the Combination patches on the Triton instead preferring to use separate voices on separate tracks,
For me and my use of the instruments at hand the PA far exceeds the Triton I used for years. Because I do use a DAW primarily in my creations. Always have. Im not "embarrassed" to say it nor will I ever be.
You cannot even compare a DAW with any keyboard as far as sampling and sequencing goes. In that regard I do not use on board sequencing and those capabilities and differences do not matter.

Ok then, you know more and better, do what fits you best but i know
what an Arranger is and what a Workstation is, if there wasnt differences
they wouldnt have the two, it would've been only one mashine but as i
said, you know more and you know the best so i agree with you, yeah
PA50 can do A LOT more then OASYS.

Now there's a stretch that attempts to illustrate your point in a rather extreme way.....
Funny, I don't remember bringing the PA50 into the fold. But to make your point seem more credible I suppose you have to make such a ridiculous notion and project it as mine.
I guess the debate is over.

As i know of PA50 is a PA Arranger and Oasys is a Korg Workstation!
Am i stupid or what? As i know and remember of we were talking about
PA Arrangers and Workstations. I wont stretch it now, i'll be fair:
Not PA50 but PA2X, not OASYS but EXTREME...tell me one thing that
EXTREME cannot do except the Arranger part and i promise you that
i will tell you 10 things that PA2X cannot do, forget the computer, i will
tell you things that cannot be done even on a computer.
Or should i compare to M3? Since both use EDS Synthezis...but as i said,
i'll go even one Ctegory lower on the workstation cuz if i use M3 you'll
have no words, like this at least i give you some space, fair enough?

I have an open mind. tell what they can do....especially the part that a DAW cannot do.
The only thing I think a workstation does in extreme is voice construction using Oscillators and ADSR. That is something I don't need to do since Arrangers already have the generic voice quality that is the Holy Grail in my work. The depth of voice editing on an Arranger is more than enough.
I suppose I must qualify my statements as to suggest how each type of keyboard does what I need it to do. I do not programm voices. I have always tried to buy modules and keyboard with voices I like as they are. (sometimes buying a whole module becasue of a particular patch such as the squeaking sax card on the U220, and the chiff strings and Ac guitars on the Proteus 1.
The Arranger already have those voices covered in spades. No longer do I need to sample a "better" Bass or horn sound. Someone has already done it. I find workstations loaded with Hip hop and Dance capabilities (the music of the day) I don't use either.
Form the viewpoint of the heart of the creative process, the DAW sees both WorkStation and arranger as one and the same.

Then dont mix YOUR NEEDS AND TASTES with PROFESSIONAL TERMS that
the whole world calls and knows. An OASYS is worthless to me but that
doesnt mean it is a bad synth or not worth its money, so in your case a
Workstation is useless comparing to an arranger but dont compare its
capabilities with your needs, dont underestimate the machines based on
your needs or ways of work, estimate on facts and then state your needs.
If you are a PRO!

There you go again misinterpreting and putting words in my mouth to make you point more credible.
Where did I say a W/S was " a bad synth or not worth its money" Those are YOUR words. Not mine.
My point was and is. The line between the Pa2x and W/S is very thin and in many cases the Arranger actually offers more of what most people want to do. They just don't know it yet.

TRUST ME i know it, and A LOT but there is still things that an Arranger
cannot do, A LOT of things, i am not twisting your words, i understand
you but you dont understand me.

NOT TRUE!
I consider a workstation any keyboard where you can play and/or record at least 16 tracks of individual sounds to an external DAW.
WRONG! Cuz of everyone trying to be nice to each other in here the forum
is full of WRONG informations, lies, self created informations and other stuff
and noone says anything cuz of WE SHOULD BE NICE TO EACH OTHER and
then we end up with people like YOU, reading all wrong info all over the net
then claiming PA50 can do more then OASYS.
I am done with this topic, continue on your own.
