How do I route external audio (mic) into seq to record

Post by beersoretus »

New user here. Thanks for your help. I have a combi patch and a microphone plugged in so I can sing and play together. I want to send them to the sequencer and then record them both. I can't find anywhere in the manual where it says how to do this? If you can give me a tip, I'd appreciate it. Thanks,

Michael

I'll spell it out, but watch the videos, below and you'll get the hang of it.

* Select your Combi that you want to sing with.

* Simultaneously press ENTER and REC/WRITE buttons to bring the Combi into the Sequencer. ("Setup to Record?" should appear.)

* Plug a mic into Input 1.

* In SEQUENCER mode, press the AUDIO IN/SAMPLING tab.

* Under Input 1, REC BUS (3rd row), select REC BUS 1 (voice without reverb)

* Under Input 1, BUS SELECT (1st row), select a free IFX, like IFX 12. (voice with reverb)

* Press the IFX tab.

* For IFX 12, under BUS SELECT, turn the L/R to OFF. Right next to that, set the REC BUS to 2.

(Your dry voice will be on bus 1 and your reverb voice will be on bus 2.)

* Press the PLAY/REC tab, then press the AUDIO TRACK MIXER tab.

* Check the little MULTI REC box.

* Each Audio track has it's own input. Set REC 1, for first track. REC 2, for second track.

* You can select the dropdown menu and select STEREO PAIR, so that tracks 3 and 4 can record your Combi in stereo.

* Set the inputs for 3 and 4 to L/R.

* ARM all 4 tracks, from Play to REC.

* Select the PREFERENCE tab and you should see 4 level meters.

* Press the Sequencer's REC/WRITE button, so it lights up. You should now see the levels react, if you sing or play.

* On the PREFERENCE page, turn the METRONOME level off, or it will be recorded.

* Press the START button to record. Do your thing.

* Press the TRACK EDIT tab and you should see a visual of your 4 recorded tracks.

Upon playback, you can add different IFX to your dry voice channel or keep the reverbed one. Your choice. The cool thing is that you can reroute any Audio Track to any effect or Bus, under the IFX tab!

After watching these, you should have some ideas:

Multibus

Give that one a few minutes to download (broadband). It shows how to record to 4 audio tracks, at the same time.
