Got new emachines...

The old one was too trashy..and there was an intermix of programs..(Causing problems when one is removed...takes part of another with it...ever hear of such a thing???) its wjhat I was told today..

Its the best for the money I saw ... It is the T5254, 2.1G., 320 G hard..5.1 surround..but the download for audacity doesn't record stereo...it doesn't come up anywhere at all to change the input like my old one did...The new Audacity looks diff. to me as well...I may go with the new soundcard, STILL..but it will be a month at least or more...so I will put up this last recorded song for June if I have to,..I will still be along, I Think

Any hints on the audacity appreciated...Probably could have done better but this was $525 for the comp/keybd/powered speakers and the money is gettin short...with this fuel crunch we are in...Can't afford to fill up a tank just any time now...!!!!!!!!!!...

Grats on the new computer!

Actually you CAN record in stereo through the Line In port. If you have just one input port, it should do fine if you plug in a stereo 1/8" plug (auto-detect).

Additionally, download the ASIO4ALL drivers as they will enable you to record quite clean and quickly with any audio software. No need to get a new soundcard if they work out for you.

My Thanks! Jon...,

Actually, it is on a mini plug and it was as I used brfore..I think the prob is in the new Audacity and I just don't know how....The BLANK...where my choices cam up for line in, stereo, 'phone...etc are NOT there and the button for mouse..is dim..in other words..with no activity...

I have not yet got to the Asio for this one, and will do that now, and see what effect it has...Seemed to work for me on the old unit...

Many Thanks!!! Johnny (ellll) :D

ellll,

If you use the plug on the front of the machine, it is a microphone ONLY jack.

HOWEVER, on the rear of your machine is Line In plug for stereo. Use that one.

(No I do not work for eMachines, I just did a spec check online and found the answer.) 8)

Edit: It seems as though you are working with Vista now. If you have any issues or questions, I am successfully running my DAW on Vista.
