Two sounds in one patch - like a split upper keyboard

Is it possible to have 2 sounds split on the upper keyboard tracks? So for example...

I'm playing a piece of music with a banjo melody. It requires a reply on a trombone. So bars 1 - 3 are banjo, then bar 4 trombone, then 5 - 7 banjo then bar 8 trombone and so on.

At the moment I'm having to switch between STS's for each sound but wondered if there's a way to have one sound say above G4 and one below down to the upper / lower split point (currently at F#3). I know I can do this with a split keyboard but I'm already using the lower for the accompaniment.

Duelling Banjo's is a good example of this in action.

Hi Dave,
Yes this is possible..
Go into the keyboard ensemble tab (in the menu) and then select Key Velocity. Then just assign the upper and lower note ranges to each of the upper 3 tracks. You could have up to three different instruments set up this way each with whatever octave range you want to give them..76 notes into 3 sections 25 notes each section..AND you could even add a fourth voice by, for example... put the PA into split mode and set the split to leave just the bottom octave of the keyboard as one side of the split which can be set to play a "lower" sound , then assign note ranges for the upper three tracks and then assign a different instrument to upper 1, upper 2 and upper 3.

Hey presto, FOUR different instruments at the same time!!
Cheers

Thanks Dennis. Much easier (and better) than I thought. :D

I just couldn't find this in manual but with your help I've got it now. Much appreciated.

And you've also answered another question I had about velocity control. I thought I'd have to edit a sound to make these things possible. This adds some great flexibility.

You're welcome Dave...

Yes it IS a very flexible keyboard when it comes to set-ups!! You can also set whether or not each of those sections also has damper (sustain), is controlled by an expression pedal, is mono or poly (important when playing originally monophonic instruments) ..Lots of things!!

Glad you got it sorted.

Cheers

I'm all set Dennis. Everything worked perfectly.

I agree that the PAX IS incredibly versatile. I like to think that I'm fairly technologically literate but even after 3 years there's still things on the PA1X that are amazing me. I think that the Korg Arrangers are extremely understated and when you really get to know them they are so powerful. Once you get over the initial learning curve you can make the instrument do some amazing things.

Anyway - thanks again for the help. Really appreciate it.
