EMX, select muted parts?

Post by Tarekith »

Hey all, quick question in case there's something I'm missing in the manual. Is it possible to select a muted part on the EMX-1, without causing that part to unmute when you select it?

If you select the part before muting it, it will remain selected after you mute it.

My issue is that I usually save my patterns with most parts muted, espcially my leads. I want to leave those muted while matching the knobs with the saved values for more seamless tweaking once I unmute those parts. Seems like it's not possible though, oh well.

There's another workaround.

Don't mute all the parts using mute. Change them to OutBus 3/4 to mute them.

Then you can use select and mute however you want, and then change the part back to OutBus to 1/2 when you're ready to tweak away.

doesn't shift+pressing the part selects it without sounding/unmuting it?

I have a two midi controllers:
- Korg microKontrol
- M-Audio Ozone

any familiar with how I could either of these to select a particular part?
Is it a controller # for a particular synth part?

They respond to different midi channels, part 1 is channel 1, part 2 channel 2, etc. You can change this in the EMX's midi menu if you want. Drums are always on Channel 10 though I believe, same as the midi standard.
