Ellll August, Etude

Friends. This is..Etude.

This is an odd choice...but at the least, it's different. I wrote it and played it at age 16, and have done it here on the korg O1Wfd using the Killer Organ Disk, with variation, and with a number of updates and improvements...But it is still what I wrote so long ago. Perhaps too bright and powerful, it is thankfully, very short, which should avoid too much suffering for those that choose to listen

It is a true etude, as I wrote it for pedals and two feet, for practice. Here I played the manual part and the pedal part separate (as the korg has no pedals...!!)

Thanks to many friends for putting up with me...

I love the chords and the pipe organ sound is such fun. I'm wondering how this would work as an introductory theme for a longer piece. This was really fun to listen to, and the recording sounds great too. You are doing better on that side, for sure.

Hi ellll,

Yes - now that is different! Makes me feel like I back in church - like a total flash back! Makes me want to go play one of them big organs that they used to build churches around. To feel the sound ... oh baby ..

Okay - I've recovered now. I can't really critique this type of music = all sounds very similar to me, but I do like it. There is a patch on the TS and M3 that is killer pipe organ - I've yet to figure out how to use it in a tune. But I do occasionally jam on it :-)

Thanxs for the flash back :-)

It reminds me a lot Angelo, a good friend of mine, one of the most nice musician I've ever met, passed away two years ago...
I remember him playing on my church's big organ, reading Bach's stuff in 3 different keys (soprano on RH, alto on LH, and baritone on feets).

Very good study Elll, thanks a lot!

Hello Friends,

Well, I know this is a bit bombastic...but actually the little O1W sounds almost good on pipe organ things...., for a keyboard.

Worth mentioning..., how MUCH AGAINST Korg I was when I first had a chance to use an O1W this way, (first one I had seen in fact...), being something of a pipe organ purist....... It is obvious my attitude changed;..., I bought one.....!!

This in fact, has a soft second section...., which could actually be a movement alone..; as there is a third section...it could be a small suite for all that..., I basically completed at the time. I plan on revising them if I get time...

Thanks so much for listening....It IS a bit much I know, but felt it might interest somebody, in particular that I was 16 when I wrote it.....Maybe another young person will try to write something in the classical vein....

One thing...the organ does still give a feeling of grandeur...to most of us...

Best Regards!!! Joihnny, John...(ellll) :D

The pipe organ has a unique sound, and this has a very hard edge which I like.

I can't remember an ellll piece that's not been so different from the usual, and that's not taking anything away from the other guys here.
I remember learning the 'lost chord' many year ago, and that took so much concentration on my part to play.

Well done John!

A very nice and strong original piece for OSAM! Love it. Definitely more than a trot away from what have done thus far, but excellent in it's delivery.

It is a bit bright, but that is not a problem.

Clean presentation too, I might add.

Thanks for breaking it up a bit and sharing some of your older material with us!

Hi Jon :D

Thanks so much for the kind words, and I am very glad you found value in this short piece!!..

It did mean a lot to me when I was 16..., and I have NEVER forgotten my wanderings in Washington D.C. and some other cities as will, as a teen.,.., and just walking in and playing a major pipe organ...!!!

Absolutely impossible today!!

Thanks again for your kind listen..!!

My Regards!! John(ny)..(ellll) !!!

Hi John

Well, very different from any of your other OSAM songs!

And you were 16 when you wrote this? Wow! I like the sequences in the bass line.... or should I say the pedal line .. ??...

It sounds so confident and bright - what sort of stop sound would produce the main melody line, if this were played on real organ? Does your Killer Organ disk have all the main real organ sounds or 'stops' listed with their 'proper' names?

I see you have another organ song for September, so will go listen to that one now.

Dee
