Can i directly install V2.0 (Xpanded) without installing V1.2.0 (including the 512 additional programs)? Will I be missing anything?

Or does V2 have the same V1.2.0 sounds but with better base samples?

What about EXB Radias V2.0? What does it do for the EXB Radias card?

I finally got to upgrading my M3. The current version is V1.1.0. I was lazy, so I never upgraded to V1.2.0. Now I am thinking about skipping the whole V1.2.0 update to go directly to V2.0!

To be on the safe side, I would recommend to install the v1.2 and EXB-Radias v2.0 first, then the v2 (xpanded).

Although Korg says that the prerequisite for installing EXB-RADIAS v2.0 is OS version 1.1.1 or higher, it is not unlikely that installation of EXB-RADIAS v2.0 based on a OS v2 has never been tested.
You can skip the installation of OS v1.1.1.

EXB-RADIAS System Version 2.0 boasts 27 new destination parameters which have been added to the Virtual Patch function. A full listing of updates is included in the download.

Perhaps Jerry will drop in and answer this one for us.

You can load V2.0 over 1.1, you don't need to go through imtermediate steps. Just be sure to follow the instructions and load it twice!

And you should do the EXB-RADIAS update seperately as well.

I am a bit confused about the 3 PCM expansion volumes (384 MB total). I don't have the EXB M256 yet, but say if I do install that in the future, how will that give me extra 128MB of space for my own samples once I download these 3 expansion packs:

Currently, I have 64MB sample memory, and adding EXB M256 will give an additional 256MB of memory: so the total sampling memory will be 64+256 = 320 MB!

320 + 256 (internal PCM ROM) = 576 MB.

I am confused!

Also, once M256 is installed, how can I load these libraries (since the automatic update the 2nd time as you mentioned is already done).

It doesn't give you an extra 128... after all 3 volumes are loaded there is around 133MB of RAM left for your own sampling

The PCG patch and combi's are loaded during the 2nd pass of the upgrade. The Sample libraries need to be set to AUTO-LOAD each time you boot your keyboard. You'll need to have your USB Flash drive on hand each time you boot.

There's ROM: 256MB
and RAM: 64 MB (internal) + 256 MB (optional EXB M256) = 320MB
i.e. TOTAL SPACE (ROM+RAM) = 576MB

So if the USB expansion soundpacks are 64MB each, then the total amount of voice samples for the NEW OS is: 256MB + (64*3)MB = 448MB

Now 576MB - 448MB = 128MB extra space for user sampling, which makes sense!

You see what I mean? the USB expansion sound packs' each volume is only 64MB and not 128MB.

Thanks for the "AUTOLOAD" hint, RC: I will keep that in mind.

We use 2:1 data compression on our samples, that's why a 128 MB PCM set can fit into the internal RAM which is 64 MB. So cut the numbers in half and it'll make sense to you.

Don't worry - the fidelity of the samples is not harmed!

My M3 is currently at version 1.0.6 as this is how I purchased it new last July. For those of us at various levels below version 1.2, could provide more general guidance on what intermediate version upgrades, if any, need to be made before uploading V2.0. Your response might look something like…
If you have V1.1 or higher, then upload V2.0 directly
If you have V1.0 or higher, then…

You don't need to install any intermediary updates. No matter what version is on your M3, you can go straight to 2.0.
