DrWho - Sept - Incomplete - A Quantity Of Light

This month I've slid back into the Smooth Jazz category and it is unfinished. Some how the month slipped on by before I could complete my tune. The good news is that this is the same bass set up I used on my other unfinished tune - so now I have some serious work to do with this bass setup.
Next month will be eletronica weirdness since it is weenie time.

I can hear where you are going with this. The feel is incredibly smooth and drawing. I love the percussion in the background. The lead sound is good...it felt a little harsh tonewise for a song like this. I would have tempered the sound back a bit.
But the melody is nice...bassline definitely on it's way.
It did feel rushed, but understandable considering, I think, ALL of us are tied down one way or another. But keep it up and let us know as you develop it more!

Love the lead, those bends especially. It's also a great jamming track, I can imagine trying all sorts of lead parts over this.
This does draw you in and is very relaxing to listen to.
Cool track Art

Hey, I like a lot the groovy section, the bass line fits perfectly the percussion groove!
I like the melody, and I like the ambience feeling of the tune!
BTW, I like "airy" pad sounds, but sometimes they confuse a little too much sounds.
Good work!

Such nice lead, I love how it bends around, up and down. This is very classic sounding. A keeper for sure, hope you can get it polished to your satisfaction. I love this.

Hi Art
As I listen to this there's a big lightning storm going on outside - makes for quite a contrast to this smooth laidback groove you've got going on here. I like the way it starts sort of out of the blue and then just drifts along.
You've got something great started here and I hope you finish it off sometime and let us know so we can listen again.
Regards from
Dee

Hey Art, are you a Steely Dan fan at all? I am getting shades of Fagan & Becker on this backed by your usual "killer" bass line. This really works for me ....has all the elements of a mix I would dearly love to create....I hope you keep it going....definitely a winner!
CHEERS!
Ron.

Very nice feel Art. The sounds work well together and a solid groove.
For a guys who complains about his soloing, you are definately working it on this piece.
This is excellent!
Thanks

Oops - I forgot to post my replies. And here it is the last week of the Oct.!
Jon - Too edgy lead sound on the brass, not the rhodes? . Yes - it does feel rushed!!
chordial - that is hte challenge - the possibilities are endless . . . . . . . .
Diego - The pad - do you mean the very beginning airy pad sound? Yes - one has to watch out for multiple sounds occupying the same frequency space.
George and Dee - Me too - I hoped to finish it by now - alas that has not come to pass.
Ronbo - Nice to hear freom you

Yes - I used to listen to a lot of Steely Dan - sooo long ago! It sure would be nice to have some slick lyrics here huh?
Stephen - Well I haven't worked on this much since I posted it. I have a blank on the next voice which should enter in the last section.
hi jaz - Yes - one way to get better is too keep on hacking at soloing
