korg zero4 loosing fader curves

Hi
...so I dragged the zero4 along to a club. we had to play in between other gigs, and we had to set it up quickly, but all is set up neatly in a flightcase - plug and play.
not.
when turned on, none of the faders were working. the pa was receiving sound, regardless of my fader movements. the sound was post-fx.
twiddled, puzzled, rebooted, no luck. so i played mixing with the input rotaries
later, at home, same deal - no faders, always output, post-fx. until i flipped the "fader reverse" toggle at the front twice.
now i can repeat the effect: in zero edit, draw a straight horizontal line as fader curve and send it to the korg. obviously, twiddle the knobs at the front of the korg and it forgets the weird curve and returns to factory curves.
what bothers me, is that the *software* got messed up while the thing was in a flightcase. I am definitely not going to run zero edit everytime i play. what if I don't bring a laptop at all ??
Im 99% sure - I'm not bringing it on stage anymore. Cant trust it. I need to find a different - probably simpler, and cheaper - solution.
